PLOT:
In the aftermath of the Final Crisis, the Justice League of America now stands two members short. In Hal Jordan's eyes, the murders of Martian Manhunter and Batman serve only to prove just how ineffective the League has been since they reformed and so he decides to form his own team of superheroes to administer a more proactive form of justice. The first person he recruits for this new Justice League is Oliver Queen, a fact that does not sit too well with Queen's wife, the current JLA Chairwoman Black Canary. But her problems lie much deeper than the departure of one Green Lantern. This splinter group's formation could not have occured at a worse time for the team as it seems that Dinah's Justice League is falling apart at the seams.

The team's two remaining core members - Wonder Woman and Superman are each tendering their resignations from the team, at least temporarily while they deal with the more immediate crisises in their lives. Superman will be off Earth tending to New Krypton and Wonder Woman finds herself more and more being called to her duties on Themyscira. Meanwhile, Red Arrow is also forced to quit the team in light of his personal break-up with co-member Hawkgirl. While she and Hawkman may have barely escaped certain death during the collapse of Lord Eye the experience has apparently only solidified her relationship with Carter Hall, whom Roy nominates as his successor on the League as well. Even the Flash, a man able to travel at light-speed no longer has the time for the JLA as he is forced to turn his attentions to the Titans team and other obligations.

Black Canary summons the remaining members of the Justice League of America (including recent additions such as Dr. Light and Zatanna) to the Hall of Justice. There she gives them all the startling news that she is dis-assembling the Justice League of America effective immediately!
