PLOT:
The villainous Starbreaker feasts on the kinetic energy created by throwing a planet into its own sun and the psychic energy of its terrified residents. He first ran afoul of the Justice League years ago when he attempted to destroy and consume the planet Rann. League members Hawkman, Flash and Green Lantern, finding themselves in the Alpha Centauri star system by pure chance - began battling with Starbreaker's vicious Mechanix drones. The drones - meant to stir up the fear levels of the doomed citizens, were made quick work of when Superman arrived on the scene in search for his missing teammates.

His attempt on Rann thwarted, Starbreaker followed the League back to Earth, setting his sights on devouring the planet they called home. He nearly succeeded as well, forcing the Earth out of its orbit and hurling it towards the sun. Luckily the League, learning of Starbreaker's vampiric nature, decided to cut-off his supply of fear by overpowering it with hope and positive energy. With his energy depleted, Starbreaker was taken down by one swift punch. The Earth was pulled back into orbit and all was well.

Turned over to the custody of the Guardians, Starbreaker was carted off to a prison cell in a shadow dimension where he has remained (save for a few sporadic escapes) ever since. But now a mysterious villain by the name of Shadow Thief has sworn an allegiance to Starbreaker. Finding a way into Starbreaker's cell, the creature of darkness professes his eagerness to serve his new master - which certainly does not bode well for the Justice League of America!
