In 2000 I had a dream of creating an online resource for Batman fans. A One stop shop if you will. Over the years there have been some awesome and dedicated fans stepping up to make BatmanYTB what it is today. I’m just a fan, which has taken his love for a character to the next level. BatmanYTB is nothing without you guys, which is why I must ask you for help. In order for BatmanYTB to maintain its level of quality, I am in need of assistance. Work demands are high and my time on the site isn’t what it used to be. I am looking for someone (Or multiple people) to take what I and so many others have built, and help it grow. If you are interested in working on one of the oldest and the largest Batman sites on the net, EMAIL ME and let’s talk. I can promise you that it’s worth it!

Ian Abercrombie, who Batman fans will remember as Alfred from the short lived "Birds of Prey" Television series passed away on January 27th, 2012 at the age of 77.
Though Abercrombie did venture into movies, the majority of his career was played out in living rooms across the nation, on TV. Abercrombie earned roles in a breadth of TV genres including parts in "Columbo" (1972), "Who's The Boss" (1985), "Dynasty" (1984-1988), "Birds Of Prey" (2002-2003) and "Desperate Housewives" (2006). Below you will find an interview that we conducted with Mr. Abercrombie in 2004. Rest in Peace, you will be missed. BYTB: How much research did you do for the role of Alfred? I.A.: Very little research for Alfred. I had a rough idea what they wanted and after our first meeting everything seemed to fall into place. I did not purposefully copy Alan and Michael, I wanted to bring an essence of my own to the character. BYTB: Birds of Prey was a good show that could have been great. Do you feel that although the WB ordered the first 13 episodes, that they were against it from the get go? I.A.: Actually, I was under the impression when we first started that WB was really behind us. Through the grapevine I heard that Levin and Roth were very high on BOP. Somewhere between the Pilot (and the rehoot of same) to about the second episode (SLICK) the budget went skyhigh. I think that WB thought that the series would cost less. Some of it became a bit cheesy. The 13 episodes were ordered on the expectations that BOP would have been a big hit for WB.
I.A.: Part of the fan reaction being so mixed was due I think to the Series not living up to the BATMAN mystique. We were not allowed to use any of the 'villians' as characters, and as you may well feel, a BATMAN story, no matter how diluted NEEDS some of the 'bad guys' to round out the stories, even though the series was about the girls (and their connection to BATMAN). BYTB: One thing that fans wanted to see was more of the Bat-world, like Wayne Manor, the Batcave, the Bat-Family? and more of the villains. Was this something that the producers were planning? I.A.: I do believe IF the series had been extended to a full season (and hopefully beyond) we would have seen more of the Cave etc., also, I was promised that Alfred would have played a more prominent role. BYTB: The New Batman movie has Michael Caine signed on to play Alfred. Is this a role that you would have taken? I.A.: Dear old Michael Caine. Oh yes, I would have jumped at the chance to play Alfred on the big screen. My name was thrown into the ring at WB, but they wanted a big name to bolster Christian Bale.
I.A.: In my own little way I suppose I am part of the BATMAN lore, but after all these years I take it in my stride. I just smile when I think about it. BYTB: What can we look forward to from you in the future? I.A.: Being in this business for almost 50 years has taught me never to take anything for granted. I really live from one job to the next. I have never had any long range plans. I am a jobbing actor who takes each day as it comes. I have nothing on the horizon (concrete that is) at the moment, a lot of possibilities but nothing to sign on the dotted line BYTB: Thanks again for your time. It was great talking with you and we wish you luck in the future.

Anyone who saw Thursday night's Community on NBC was treated to a great episode heavily based around The Dark Knight. After Abed purchases a special edition $299 DVD set of the film, it becomes allegedly stolen from the apartment, forcing him to take matters into his own hands by childishly dressing in a Batman Begins Halloween costume and investigating in character. The episode, entitled "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism," can be watched on Hulu HERE Discuss "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism" on our forum HERE |

Warner Home Video to distribute DC Universe Animated Original Movie in early 2012; Eight Justice League TV series alums featured in voice cast Prime-time television stars Nathan Fillion and Tim Daly, the reigning voices of Green Lantern and Superman, respectively, join an exciting group of actors reprising their famed cartoon roles in Justice League: Doom, an all-new entry in the popular series of DC Universe Animated Original Movies due in early 2012 from Warner Home Video. Justice League: Doom finds Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg and Batman on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The story is inspired by Mark Waid’s much-heralded “JLA: Tower of Babel.” Fillion, the star of ABC’s hit TV drama Castle, made his debut as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan in the recent Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Fillion made his initial DCU bow as the voice of Steve Trevor in the 2008 hit Wonder Woman. Currently headlining the cast of ABC’s popular Private Practice, Daly originated the title character’s voice in the landmark cartoon, Superman: The Animated Series. He has reprised the role in two DCU films: the 2009 extravaganza Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and the 2010 thriller Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. In addition to current primetime stars Fillion and Daly, the cast is a grand reunion of the original group of actors who provided the voices of the Justice League for the cartoon of the same name and its follow-up, Justice League Unlimited. Reprising their roles are Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) as Batman, Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville, Breaking In) as Flash, Susan Eisenberg (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse) as Wonder Woman and Carl Lumbly (Alias) as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter. Bumper Robinson (A Different World, Transformers: Animated) joins the cast as Cyborg.
David Kaufman (Danny Phantom) also reprises his Justice League role of Jimmy Olsen. The film is executive produced by Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One), and directed by Lauren Montgomery (Batman: Year One), who is also credited as producer alongside Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series). Justice League: Doom is the final script from the late Dwayne McDuffie? (All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths). Casting and dialogue direction is once again in the capable hands of Andrea Romano (Batman: Year One, SpongeBob? SquarePants). Warner Home Video will premiere the Justice League: Doom trailer during its presentation at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 14 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the IGN Theater. Also premiering during that session will be the Catwoman animated short that is attached to Batman: Year One, the next DC Universe Animated Movie (streeting October 18). |
