PLOT:
The Royal Flush Gang shows up in Vegas trying to knock over the Startopia Casino, one of the most state of the art casinos in the world. Statopia employs a cutting edge type of nanotechnology that controls the odds of small winnings over larger ones so that the house stands to lose less money. And they just so happen to be having a $25 million poker tournament going on - the giant stacks of green lined up in the center of the room behind plexi-glass.

When word spreads of the RFG's move on Startopia, Firestorm and Vixen (who now pretty much comprise the entirety of the JLA) decide to go into action. As they head out, Vixen places a blanket call for assistance to any and all super-heroes and former leaguers who may be able to help. When they arrive they're pleasantly surprised to find that Dr. Light, Red Tornado and Plastic Man have all responded for duty. However the resulting air is contemptuous at best. Plastic Man doesn't get along with Dr. Light. Gehenna is jealous of Jason's relationship with Vixen. But nevertheless the team heads in to round up the Royal Flush Gang and put a stop to their efforts.

Somehow during the chaos, the gang manages to shatter the plexi-glass surrounding the bills and trick Red Tornado into whirling past them. All of a sudden the air is filled with countless green-backs flying all over the place. Between the natural chaos of the battle and the riotous civilians making a dash for the cash, the Gang is able to escape.

Little does the League realize that they hadn't gone too far. Just across town the King meets with one of his subordinates who had been present at the casino, disguised as a civilian. It turns out the Gang was never in it for the money. Their bosses, Roulette and Professor Amos Fortune were far more interested in acquiring the casino's top of the line nanotechnology instead. In all of the pandemonium going on, they were able to walk right out the door with it! Now with that tech firmly in their possession the game truly begins.

NOTE:
This story was previously solicited to appear in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #34.
