PLOT:
With her inconsistent abilities sidelining her super-hero career, Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi is forced to accept a position at S.T.A.R. labs in Metropolis so that she can take care of her children. After returning home from a particularly stressful day, she finds the Shadow Cabinet waiting for her in her living room. The mysterious heroes claim to need her help with something. Before hearing them out she summons enough of her powers to accelerate to the speed of light and go search for her children. Hardware is able to trap her using Ultracooled Atoms but not before Kimiyo can use her old JLI communicator to signal for help.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Red Arrow and Hawkgirl hits a major rough patch when Kendra accidentally calls out Carter's name while she and Roy are making love. Back at the Hall of Justice, Black Canary finishes offering Animal Man a place on the Leauge (which he refuses) before heading to crash the secret meeting between Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. She explains how she learned of their hyperspace meetings and asked them to stop undermining her authority by meeting in private.

Before the Trinity can make very many excuses for their behavior, the League receives Kimiyo's distress signal and responds to it. They arrive at her house in Metropolis to find that while her children are perfectly fine, Kimiyo is nowhere to be found. Realizing that the "babysitter" watching over the children is really a Shadow Cabinet member in disguise, the JLA demand to know where Kimiyo is.

It would seem however that Kimiyo's distress signal only helped the Shadow Cabinet's secret plan as Icon and Iota use the distraction to sneak into the Hall of Justice. There they locate the candle wax remains of the original Dr. Light and attempt to abscond with them. Before they can leave however they find themselves face to face with the League who had deduced the Cabinet's plans. Do they trust the new heroes and allow them to pass or do they challenge them?
