PLOT:
Monarch finishes rounding up the final heroes he has chosen to take place in his battles and delivers them to his base in the Bleed. After announcing his presence by vaporizing scores of heroes with no warning, Monarch declares that the battles will begin shortly. Superman tries to attack Monarch but is stopped short. Monarch lets all participants know that he has chosen them from across the 52 universes and should any of them step out of line he always has 49 replacements waiting in the wings (so to speak). Monarch also uses this opportunity to inform everyone that although some of them may possess the ability to travel through time and space, the punishment for such would be dire.

The battle between the Nightshades ends with only one Nightshade emerging the victor. After ripping the head off of her competition, Nightshade simply opens up a portal from the Shadowlands directly back to her Earth. Immediately after she arrives, Monarch is waiting for her. He captures Nightshade and forces her and the others to watch as he destroys that world's entire United States of America. The Supermen begin to argue over the correct course of action but Monarch soon shows up and teleports the Batmen out into the arena to begin their battle.

Vampire Batman is stabbed in both eyes but is able to evade his competition before re-appearing in a cloud of black smoke and feasting upon the blood of his competition. Monarch arrives and declares the battle over and informs Vampire Batman that he will not defile his arena nor the bodies of the defeated.

Superman is enraged by being forced to sit idly while his fellow heroes kill each other. He turns to his compatriots and asks them quite simply, "Who's with me?"
