Gearhead, a part-cyborg adrenaline junkie, rides into Gotham in a souped up racer. With the ability to take control of cars with his nano-technology, Gearhead is out to commit a series of crimes for thrills. When a spectacular chase with Gearhead destroys the Batmobile, Batman must create a new and improved vehicle if he hopes to bring the villain down.
A nice introduction to the new Bmobile! Also, anyone notice who did Gearheads voice?

REVIEW:
As part of Kids WB's NEW-ember, The Batman returns with all new episodes after a short hiatus. Was it worth the wait?...Let's see:
We're introduced to a new villain called Gearhead. Just like Temblor, and maybe Toy Maker (who has yet to be seen as of 11-5-05), Gearhead has been created for the show and not from the comics AT ALL. Gearhead represents another good villian because he controls machines of whatever type like a virus, and Batman creates alot of them for his "mission". So that puts Batman in a tough situation.
While the nano-technology Gearhead uses that makes any thing like cars transform into something else isn't on the reality side of things, at least it was explained that it was something that exists today, and not something like "oh, he uses magic". The episode would've been dead right then and there if it was.
Another main introduction is the new Batmobile. This episode is also mainly a origin story for how the old Batmobile was trashed and how the new one was built and first used. The new Batmobile, or "Batmobile 2.0", is based on elements from other Batmobiles such as the TNBA/JL/JLU Batmobile, the blue coloring again from the Kilmer car, and I heard that the bigger wheels and powerful jet(s) makes it also based on the Tumbler. But you be the judge on that.
As far as performace; it was decent. It was nice to see this in action however I wished there was more screen time for it when it was racing Gearhead. But that can be fixed once we see more in action in the next episodes. Another factor that put me not as ease was its specs. It looked a little slim instead of being wide. But since the car is a good addition, that'll work on me in a bit. But as I stated: New Batmobile, new stuff to see.
Now I wouldn't make a paragrapgh for Batgirl for this review, maybe just part of my closing, but for her in this epsiode, I'll make one. Also because she's cute. Now, her in this episode was that she is trying to get her driver's lisence. No problem. She also gets to drive, well without permission, the Batcycle. No problem there either. But the one thing that was a moment (in my mind) was her in the Batmobile with Batman. Together in the car gave the feeling of "The Dynamic Duo". Even though that goes for Batman AND Robin, I still got that feeling from her and Batman.
I don't want to start up anything, but maybe thats a hint somewhat of her getting closer to Batman to the Bruce identity in the future. I don't want to fight, all of us want that so thats just an idea of what that is. But overall: a good episode after a hiatus.
RATING: 8/10
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.
(crack!)
And I'm the surgeon.
- Batman - The Dark Knight Returns
::bbbruce:: - I give up trying to explain whatever technologies used in this show being realistic or not...too much negativity.
My take on the episode is this: Nice new villian...sorta mediocre as far as the "big Picture" of this Gotham continues to emerge.
Gear's use of nano-tecnologies is cool...he kinda looks like Firefly in the face when not wearing his mask. BTW...wasn't the earlier artist rendering of him different? I don't know...I guess it doesn't matter. The new Batmobile was pretty decent and Batgirl was...Batgirl.

Gearhead was done pretty much like i thought he would be. He is taken from the comic books, real name is Nathan Finch. the technology he uses in the show is the same as the comics. he can "morph" into different shapes with his technology, tho his appearance in the comics looks a little creepier. this was a good story to introduce the new Batmobile. thought, however, that the inclusion of Batgirl was kind of forced, she had no real purpose. I really dig this new Batmobile design. hope they do some toy versions of it to add to my collection. all in all a "watchable" episode. i give it a 8/10.
heres a cover pic from Detective Comics from one of his appearances.
This was good episode, reminded me of the big heat and the cat and the bat.
since mattel is making a gearhead figure i hope they make a his car or his byke cause theyre musts . he was a cool villain, one of the better ones in the batman. hopefully he'll appear in more episodes
batgirl was funny, like other people said: she didnt have a purpose but i liked the addition and i know just how she feels ead:
im okay with the new batmobile, im probably the only one that liked the old one. it was modern but it still had the batmobile essense. the new one is just like the old one so its not really new.

Good episode, I also agree Batgirl seemed kinda pointless but it was still fun havign her around. I think as of now, Batman recognize her presence, and isn't gonna try to stop her, but she still isn't an official sidekick yet.
I liked Gearhead, he was pretty interesting and it was cool to see a badguy who had a different style than just fighting and stealing. He was just a thrill seeker, sure he was stealing but his main motivation was the thrill of racing.
This was a good way to start the new episodes, so far season 3 hasn't disapointed me (Penguin's episode could've been better, but it wasn't bad)
i give this episode a 7.5/10. overall good episode, gearhead looked cool and sounded good. the car chase scenes were good, batgirl again, im going to have to get used to her. well.....the new batmobile is without a doubt better than the last, but i still thought it would be better. its minor things about it that get to me such as the door on the batmobile being all the way at end instead of the middle, the wings on the batmobile are too small and too pushed back, but on the other hand its faster than the first car, darker and has more defense. a good way to start new-vember
