I really like how Meltzer refers to his previous works in his stuff but in a more subtle way. Kathy's use of the Mega Rod-like (Big Barda's weapon of choice) thing is a great reference back to the statement in Identity Crisis about the heroes getting organized after the Death of Superman.
The build up has finally paid off. I was not really big on how slow things were going before, but this issue was good enough to help me get over the slow pace. The next two parts of the story should be some great fun as the new team gets coordinated and takes down the bad guys.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #6

Variant cover by Adam Hughes
PLOT:
The human Red Torando faces off Solomon Grundy in a extreme fight while Amazo, who has been behind the scenes since the first issue, faces off against the rest of the superheroes that will become the new Justice League!
REVIEW:
After the fifth issue, we were treated with a two month break sorta before finally continuing with the sixth issue. Issue five had brought the two sides of the team together, thus forming Meltzer's JLA for the first time in the run. Now with this issue, the battle technically resumes and finishes in this issue. Let's see how it does.
My reaction was amazing, well not really that amazing, but pretty amazing. The issue was good. Despite the fact that some loose threads are still dangling, the issue presents as the final chapter before the conclusion. For one, Vixen is finally with the other superheroes as it is her, that stops Amazo. Not Superman, not even Green Lantern, her. That was unexpected, but at least she is with the others instead of being with her own. The battle with Grundy and Red Torando is very harsh, and very painful (for Torando). I liked what Meltzer did with Grundy as he isn't stupid anymore, he is a smart villian. And the human Red Torando takes quite a beating. I went "ouch" when Grundy ripped Torando's arm off and all the punches he got from the big guy. And of course, there is one dangling plot thread left: Geo-Force. Our so-called "11th member", but I'll leave that alone until the next issue.
Even though he is smart, Grundy could be considered "too smart". Grundy says that since Red Torando is and became a robot, he dosen't need nor have a family. Now, this shows more of how Grundy's mind works as he thinks "it is what it is". But its more like Grundy has become a machine himself, as that would be what a robotic machine would say to Red Torando, and thats interesting. Another thing to point out, from Meltzer's interview, is that Red Torando's story is here is like Pinocchio, or the opposite. Pinocchio wanted to be a real boy because he wanted to dot hings he couldn't as a puppet, for Red Torando he wants to be a robot again as he could do things that a mere human couldn't, like survive this fight with Grundy. Another interesting point.
Overall, this was a good issue. The villians are taken care off, but that doesn't mean this arc is over as the conclusion of it is in the next issue. And I wouldn't say the entire storyline is done, as that has to be in the last issue fo Maltzer's 12 issue run. Its the case for many comic storylines, Superman/Batman for example. Meltzer said that the next issue, the final of the entire arc here, explains alot and I hope it really does. Theres Geo-Force in this and his story is sorta like he's just there.
RATING: 8/10
Next Issue: The new JLA gets their new headquarters, and things like why the three were voting to begin with is revealed.
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

PLOT:
What you've been waiting for: the debut of the new Justice League of America! See the introduction of the new team headquarters, plus many other cool surprises!
REVIEW:
Brad Meltzer's Justice League of America, despite the slowness of the issues, has showed how much he has done to the title. For one thing, this entire arc from issue one to now got the team together, and that wasn't bad. JSA started with its first issue with everyone together, and Meltzer wanted to do it a different way. Another is that issue zero showed both in-continuity and out of continuity scenes involving the big three, and once that was done and the three went on to go and vote who to recruit, we went on to focus on the rest of the heroes that will make up the League. It’s because the threes' story was done and it was time to get the rest moving. Now we have what I strongly believed to be the actual final part of the arc.
After reading this issue, I felt fine. Maybe that’s not the right word, I felt great. And I as right, as the title suggests, this is the last part of The Tornado’s Path as it says its the epilogue, and I hope the TPB gets changed to include this instead of 00-06 for all you who are waiting for the trade. Anyway, back to the issue, this last part was so good that at the end of it all you got the feeling of "alright, here it is, lets go!” Many things appeared and happened in here that I hope I get to say about them and not spoil. Well then again.....I think we shouldn't have a problem.
Okay, first off, Geo-Force. Black Lightning now knows that he has superpowers and we found out what they are: Terra's. I didn't know anything about this man but I did know he was the brother to Terra from the Teen Titans, and I believe the same Terra that will have a series and has appeared in Supergirl. So that’s his powers. But he is still not a member of the new JLA. Like he was said to be, he is the "unofficial" member. So I believe he'll be around and either join then or later. And what's the new headquarters for the JLA? Is it earth based or in space? Well its actually both, because they had two headquarters. With access ways to get to the other is a second. The one on earth is the well known, actual, Hall of Justice from the Superfriends television series. The actual place from top to bottom, with hardly any changes (maybe mostly the interior). And the one in space is more of a new design, but based on both Watchtowers of Justice League & Justice League Unlimited animated series. So they have both a Hall of Justice & a Watchtower. Cool huh?
Next thing, Red Tornado. Now before, his arm got ripped off because he was human. Now, he has that arm back but he is now back as a robot. He didn't say that was the case, but you can tell from how he talks. But while I knew this was the case, I thought he was going to go to his wife for advice or help since he wanted to be human, now he's back to square one again and I figured he'd be a little sad. That was not the case. Also, before we assumed, and the action figure stated, that Roy was to be called Red Arrow. And we thought he was already calling himself that even 4-5 issues back. But it wasn't, because it is here that Roy/Speedy/Arsenal officially calls himself Red Arrow. And we got a nice talk with Green Arrow. As a set up to his final issue as he mentions thinking about proposing to Dinah, he states how proud he is of Roy and that gave a passing of the torch moment. That was a good scene.
The last thing was the group shot near the end that was framed in....the Hall? Somewhere. Anyway, the group shot is similar to the cover to this issue as they are posing and there are pictures behind them of the different Leagues since their The Brave and the Bold introduction. Unlike the cover, where those shots were redrawn, it’s in the issue that those pictures came from the actual comics. You see the Silver Age JLA of the big seven, the Satellite years with Snapper Carr, Justice League Detroit pre-Crisis, Justice League International and Morrison's JLA that was the last one before Meltzer's. I felt that was a good shot to have in this issue. So as you can tell, as the last part everything comes together. And you get good returned elements as well as good images to see.
Overall, this was again the true final part of the arc. Everything is set up and ready to go, which is what will happen as the epilogue in JLA is alot like the epilogue in the latest JSA issue: the team up of the JLA, the JSA, and if that wasn't enough; the Legion of Superheroes. So I hope this issue is put in the TPB so those who are reading this and are waiting for those trades. And if they don't, well then it'll become something like the first two trades of Superman/Batman, where it became like a two parter. So now that the JLA is finally formed, lets get kickin'!
RATING: 8/10
Next Issue: The JLA/JSA team-up begins!
BTW: I believe I can get shots of Hall of the Justice, the new Watchtower, and the group shot. So if you want them, let me know and I'll try.

Brad Meltzer reported, in his blog that there is an error in Justice League of America #7
Mistake in JLA 7
Wish this weren't so, but just found out there's a misplaced page in JLA 7. Thanks to an extra ad, Page 30, for some reason, runs before page 26. It oddly still somehow reads okay (kinda), but for the optimum reading experience, there's how it should go. (The whole Star City scene should read together). Sorry for that one.

No word about a corrected version, but there is a possibility for this one to go back for a second printing.

Geo-Force has been around for about as long as Terra. He is just not as well known because the Teen Titans stories are better known than the Batman and the Outsiders ones. Geo-Force is the king of Markovia and brother of Terra. His powers are taken from the Earth. He has the ability to manipulate gravity, fire lava blasts, fly short distances (less than 1000 miles), and has super strength. Now, at least until Terra returns I guess, he seems to be able to move the ground as well.
He was an okay character, but a little stand-offish because he is a king. I guess once he is on the League he will be the member of royalty that Aquaman typically is.

I can't get the pictures to enlarge Nate, maybe it's just my PC.
Despite the fact that this title is only 7 issues old, I think I'm upto about 15 comics now (including variants), then I noticed in the new Jonah Hex that there is an advert for the first h/b collection. Remember that thread you started about trades v comics Darknight? I did wonder if I'd have been better off just waiting!! I do like having the comics though, and some of the covers for this (& new JSA) have been beautiful!
