Electro Strike Batman
Batman Begins, Power Tek Series 1: Mattel, 2005 #H1335
Electro Strike Batman is the not quite ?Movie Accurate? version of Batman from Batman Begins. He is not simply a Battle Gear Batman with backpack and holding odd lightning effect boxes. No, this is almost a whole new figure with more articulation and different articulation with ball joints at the shoulders and extra articulation at the hips.
The button on the backpack makes the arms clamp together (Note: this may be the only review online to show that) and also lights the strobe effects. Pressing the Bat logo on his chest, which is a button that pushes through the body into the backpack, can also activate the strobe effects.
SPECS:
The figure stands just short of 5 1/2 inches tall and has 16 points of articulation (head, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, knees an ankles). Cloth Cape. He comes with a removable backpack and holds a box like device in each hand that has a strobe light effect.
PROS:
They did a better job on the eyes than they did Battle Gear Batman, so this will make for good head swap material. No, it?s not collector quality, but it is really good for the kids market it?s aimed at.
CONS:
This would be one of the better Batman figures made if it weren?t for the extra sculpting on the shoulders. The pack and leg holsters do come off, but the figure looks odd without it. The ball joint shoulders are better than Battle Gear?s cut ones, but they are spring-loaded and that severely limits the outward range of motion. The arms are designed to clamp together and not much more.
OVERALL:
The figure has good playability and is a decent value as toy. This is the ?normal looking? Batman among the deluxe Power Tek figures and it may be more sought after than the others which also have strobe light effects, but come in different colors other than black.
I picked one up to swap parts on a custom. I thought the hips had rather odd articulation to them and they would have looked better as ball joints similar to Marvel Legends. Batman collectors may want one for their collection, and custom figure builders may want one too for parts.
