Rapid Fire Batman
Batman Begins Series 1 (Wave Two): Mattel, 2005 #H1329

Rapid Fire Batman is one of the coolest Batman figures ever released. It has a unique backpack that holds three Batarangs and that triggers the Right Arm to reach back to grab and throw the Batarangs in quick succession.

You will need to click the arm into the proper alignment to get the arm to work correctly. There are alignment marks on the shoulder to line up. Once lined up it worked beautifully. I had almost no miss fires, but I did pop off the backpack a few times while playing with it. The Batarangs will fly at least 14?, but I did have a couple that went 20? to 24?.

SPECS:

The figure stands just short of 5 1/2 inches tall and has 9 points of articulation (head, shoulders, left elbow, waist, hips, and knees). Cloth Cape. He comes with a Backpack and 3 Batarangs and separate round weapon that 2 Batarangs can snap into.

PROS:

This is one of the better Batman figures made and it certainly has the best action feature ever put into a Batman figure. It?s got great play value and the throwing mechanism works flawlessly.

Batman Gloves Not Included

CONS:

The action feature works very well, but everything has to be lined up perfectly to make it work. My only gripe was that the paint on the belt on my figure was still tacky to the touch and caused some wear marks when I first handled the figure.

OVERALL:

Rapid Fire Batman first appeared on the Card Backs of the first wave of Batman Begins figures in a Gray Batsuit and numbered H1296. I personally have never seen a Gray Rapid Fire Batman H1296, although reports on BATNATION did claim to see the figure on eBay. If you?re a Completeist Collector you may want to track that figure down. If it exists it may be one of the more rare Batman Begins figures. This version (H1329) maybe considered a Variant, but it is in the movie correct Black Batsuit and a better choice.

This figure is a great figure and the action feature alone makes it worth the price. The Card Back warns that the figure will not stand on it?s own. That?s sort of correct, I got mine to stand but not very solidly. You will need a display stand or just back him up to a wall or flat vertical surface for display. Battle Gear Batman is still the better figure to get if you only want a movie correct Batman. The holes in the cape and back and the fixed right arm on Rapid Fire make it odd to display without the backpack.

I consider this figure a must have for any figure collector, it?s just that cool.

Note: TVOG is the only place online that shows this figure in action. It's not easy getting action shots with a Digital Camera, but that's what sets us apart from the others.

Note: There is a Wave One version (H1296) of the figure in a Blue/Gray suit with Silver Backpack. As far as I know it has not been released in the U.S.

Tonight at a Wal-Mart I found a Batman Begins figure, Rapid Fire Batman, number H1296. This was the original version of the figure. It has a blue/gray Batsuit with black cape, cowl, gloves, and boots. This figure was to be part of the first wave of Batman Begins figure when they first hit the pegs a couple months ago. It was listed on the Card Backs, but it was the only figure I never saw in any store, until now.

I was wanting to pick this figure up tomorrow. That'd be cool if they had the blue costume version. No need for another basic one really.

Here's another tidbit. The inner tray is different on my Blue Gray figure than it is on the Black one I have.

The figure is posed different and the Batarang in the upper left corner is in a different position.

But look at the picture from eBay and my first picture and the tray is the same. When did they change the tray, because I swear a Black version of the figure on the pegs looked the same way. I held them up together to compare.

I found more of the Blue Gray version at a Super Wal-Mart. There were a few like they are part of the regular assortment and not just an odd piece.

No, I did not have any requests for one. I went down south to see if they had the 1:6 Tyco Batmobile, they do but it's marked up to $119.97 so I passed. I also read some bad reviews about it so I might not get one afterall, but it looks very cool.
