Killer Croc
DC Superheroes: Mattel, 2005. Asst J2003, SKU# J5147

Killer Croc is back. The new DC SuperHeroes series of figures is updating some of previous versions of the comic style Batman figures Mattel has released over the last three years.

There is a new head sculpt and this version is a lighter green than before. It does not have the torn shirt or the tail that the previous version did either. Unlike before the jaw is fixed and does not open and close like the original.

SPECS:
The figure stands 6 1/4 inches tall and has 12 points of articulation (head, shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles). It comes with a piece of pipe as an accessory/weapon. It also includes a comic book, Batman Comic Book, Batman: Dark Tomorrow, ?Setups?.

PROS:
This is one of the best Killer Croc figures ever released. The new head sculpt is really good and I like that this version does not have the tail. I think that makes it even better than before.

(Left: original Mattel Comic Style Killer Croc)
CONS:
Elbows and knees should have been on the figure, Bane has them, Croc should have too.

OVERALL:
The figure has good playability and a really good value. The return of the comic style Batman figures was long overdue. Batman along with three villains, Killer Croc, Bane and Scarecrow make up the first assortment, so you stand a better chance at getting one of these at retail than the original.

Nice photos, as always. I love the detail and dark shades on his back.
It's funny. This DC Super Heroes version makes the Batman Croc seem more cartoonywith his jungle green complexion, red eyes and plain blue pants. I also hated the fact that his sculpted rope belt wasn't painted distinctly. The new one on the other hand, has more appropriately colored jeans, brown belt and more realistic skin/scale color. The black nails also add to his raw appearance in comparison to white.
I didn't feel dumb at all for picking this figure up. While I will say he is an improvement, both versions are very distinct and have a different appeal to them.

This is probably the only figure that I don't want from series 1. Although, I think this one is better than the other. It doesn't really make any sense for Croc to have a tail in the first place if he's supposed to be a human with a rare skin type.
Nice review, as always. :rol:

The reason for the tail is that there was a storyline where Croc's skin disorder was changed to be a mutation (must have been a former Marvel writer). The mutation was accelerating and he was essentially turning into a big crocodile. I guess the art that the first figure was based on was from this period of time. Last time I saw him was in Hush, and I don't see a tail in the couple of pages I looked at. Maybe they undid the change.

I just got all the 3 villains from series one, but I had to get Batman off ebay b/c I couldnt find him anywhere Funny how in this line its easier to find the villains instead of Batman. I saw some pics of Azreal/Joker/Freeze, are those the second wave in this line?
