Does anyone else here like Star Trek? It's now official that they are making a new movie!! It's coming out christmas day 2008. I'm excited, I was worried that Paramount was done with star trek when that last movie came out, that no one liked, and they cancelled Enterprise.

I love star trek
TOS and TNG rule
After the slow ticket and DVD sales of Nemesis and the cancellation of Enterprise (which in it's final season had "Star Trek" put into the title to hopefully boost ratings by the way) Paramount announced that they were pulling the plug on the franchise as a whole. This somehow angered the fans and even though they did not watch enterprise or see the last movie just the idea of no more Star Trek was out of the question (what a bunch of hypotwits) so a large group of fans raised about 3million dollars delivered it to the studio with a letter reading something like bring back star trek hope this helps, or something like it, (the whole money thing might be fiction as it was my aunt who told me the stary but she's even more trekie than I) The rest is history
I don't know about this movie though, prequels do not usally do well, but I guess it's better than another TNG crew movie the series was excellent but the only movie worth mentioning was First Contact. On the plus J.J. Abrhams is directing which is good to hear, his projects are almost slam dunks like Felicity, (that's right I watched Felicity wanna make something of it) Alias, and Lost. It is star trek and I will see it at least 5 times during it's theatrical release.

Enterprise was alright, but if they were going to do a prequel, they should have done it with Captain Pike or April. However, I was hoping for a show based on Riker and the Titan.
I think a movie about the original crew is great. Go back to the basics. I'm looking forward to it.

I was never really into it, but it had it's moments. I remember that surreal one where they landed in some sort of post Deadwood type town and everyone had to fight like **** with everyone else from 6pm to 6am at "The Festival" - Weird and good.
I've always wanted to see the Animated Star Trek....... |

Not much of a Trek fan... I used to watch TNG all the time, but that was more for the space travel thingy than the character thingy. Though I do remember watching to see Marina Sirtis' butt in a tight jumpsuit as well.

I am glad to see that a new Trek movie is on its way. My favourite is Voyager, since it has both Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan, but I also like TNG and TOS (since the latter had my friend, George Clayton Johnson, as a writer). This is nice news.

When Enterprise was on I only watched it a few times, I don't know why. I think it was because it was on at a wierd time. But I started watching it again, since it's on the scifi channel, and I love it!!! Scott Bakula is great, I liked him from Quantum Leap. T'Pol is cool too. I always loved the Vulcans best, and they had never had a Vulcan female as a main character in a series before!! I'd like to see an Enterprise movie someday.
I really love all the star trek series' though. I've been watching them, since I was little. Now I watch it everyday on spike and I have gotten all my love of star trek back.

I?m a huge Star Trek fan, but I have my doubts about a ?prequel? with a young Kirk and Spock with new actors. The Star Trek films have been mostly hit or miss with more misses than hits. Wrath Of Khan and The Search For Spock were two of the best ones. I?ll wait and see before I pass judgment on this new film.

I wasn't a big fan of Search For Spock.. I liked Voyege home better than 3. My favorites for the movies are:
Wrath Of Khan
Voyege Home
Undiscovered Country
Generations
First Contact
Insurrection
Search For Spock
Nemisis
Motion Picture
As for a movie about a young Spock and Kirk, rumor has it that Shatner and Nemoy will be in it, maybe like they are looking back, remembering one of thier first missions.
I think it'll be ok, as long as they stay true with series. I'm sure the ship will have an updated look which is ok, again, as long as it stays true to the series.

The Voyage Home was my favorite too!!
The rumored actors for the movie are Matt Damon as Kirk, Adrian Broody as Spock, and Gary Sinese as McCoy. I'm praying that these are only rumors. It's like casting a big star in a comic book movie, only 10 times worse, because there are already actors that are identified with these characters. They will never have an actor that can fill the shoes of William Shatner, Leonard Nemoy, or Deforest Kelley. And they can't try to make it a big hit, just by casting big actors. Then they will just lose their real fans. Besides, they're all too old!!

Dude, Spock is an inteligent, statuesque man... Adrian Brody tends to play twitchy characters; not a good choice in my book.

There is going to be a Star Trek fan film out on April 15th, which is Directed by Tim Russ (Tuvok from Voyager) and it will include many of the Star Trek actors from the show. Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and Walter Koenig (Chekov) from TOS, Tim Russ (Tuvok) and Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) From Voyager, and quite a few other actors. I thing the whole cast is actors from the original shows.
I guess the actors were sick of waiting for a new movie.
It will be shown in three parts. The first part airs April 15th, go to this link to see the trailer.

Sounds interesting! And I can believe it when actors get sick of waiting for a new movie.
