I think my area (New York's Southern Tier/Pennsylvania's Northern Tier) is about to go through another MAJOR flood, less than five months after the worst flood since 1936. AS I drove home, water was rising so fast that everywhere was becoming a river or lake. Horrible!!

That sounds harsh. We don't get too much of that here besides the basement flooding, but that's all taken care of now with sump pumps. The only big flood I can remember in recent times was just a few years back when the creek running through Manchester (a few miles west from here) overflowed. Months later, the grimey discoloring was still on the buildings. Probably the first time I'd seen anything like that.

Yeah, I live in the north-east, and I've had tornadoes wizzing by my ears all day; but the worst I've got is a small amount of water (not even a enough for a puddle) in the basement. I'm sorry that your having floods.

The weather was pretty nasty around us yesterday, too. Fortunately, we're on high enough ground (pretty much the peak of our particular road) that flooding isn't really an issue for us. I hope everyone else came through safely!

An update:

Flooding does not seem to have been as severe as in late June, but we had some mudslides (Holy Southern California, Batman!!). I saw some damaged road pavement as well. The New York Department of Transportation has its work cut out for it! And the waters remain high!
