Am I the only one who liked the screen time Venom got in the movie? I've only seen the movie once, but I'm pretty sure my oppinion would stay the same next viewing.
Anyway, I liked how they did Venom because by giving him only a small amount of screen time they were allowed to make him obscenely powerful. I mean imagine if he had multiple fights with Spidey? They would have had to weaken him severly so Spidey could survive the battles... And imagine if the fight was longer? It was already a long fight scene, so wouldn't making it longer put us in a coma like Matrix Reloaded did?
I say they gave Venom the perfect screen time for the movie... Now Eddie Brock, I could've stood to seen more development of him. But then again, that isn't nessicary cause Venom, even though I love him, isn't really a character you watch for the personality.

Actually, they were really loyal to the comics. The entire Goblin arc was basically the bullet points of the story in the comics (from Norman's accident in the lab to Harry's redemption) Venom's representation was extremely loyal to his first apearance. The biggest changes were Sandman and Gwen.
I guess I'd understand not liking Sandman, but I liked it because it brought something to the movie. And I liked Gwen in particular because Mary Jane already served Gwen's role in the first one, so Gwen in this one seemed more a satire on MJ (an air-headed babe trying to take peter from his true love) by a fan from the Gwen era.
I, personally, like it when they change things from the comics, cause when you already know everything that's going to happen it can get kind of boring. I think it's more a sevice to the fans to give us something interesting and new while still keeping the characters loyal to the comics. But that's just my opinion.

i know gwen dies in the comics, but i hope they kill off MJ in the movies, shes just so... bleh. in both looks and in characterization, that isnt MJ that we know, so just keep gwen, in all honesty, i like MJ more than gwen, but not in the movieverse

thats a good point...i never really looked at it like that before, but its more about the origin of venom i didnt care for in this movie...and harrys goblin armor. i really dont think he should have a sword...and did anyone else notice that sometimes peters costume only coverd up 2 his colur bone and when he took of his mask it coverd his whole neck? thats realy bugging me.

well let's just say the peter parker/spider-man character is a bit too realistic. he has teenage drama, well i guess now college drama, lol. he's really easy to relate to i guess.
with batman, he sets his standards all high. he lives a life with morals that a lot of people dont have. he doesnt drink, doesnt smoke, doesnt do anything bad really; and on top of that, he gives a lot of money to charity as bruce wayne, and saves lives of strangers as batman. batman's ideals are unrealistic, but admirable.
to me, spider-man could be like some kid at my school with super powers. he either fights crime out of vengeance, enjoyment, fame, or something a real life person would do it for. but it's not something to admire. i'm just the type of person who likes his fictional characters to be unbelievably "good."
Well, Spider-man to me is a true hero, he's not the average guy who would get super powers and use them for his own behalf. Sure he has problems with girls and money, but that doesn't have anything to do with his morals. I know he's not perfect all the time though, like in this movie he lets the city's love for him go to his head, but still, you can't say he's anything like anti-heroes like the Punisher. And in the end Spidey always learns his lesson.
Anyways, I love the movie. I think that the story wasn't as tight as number 2, or even 1, but still, it's comes in second on my list of the three. The "dark Peter" scenes with the dancing reminded me of the "Rains Drops Keep Falling on my Head" scene from Spider-man 2, and I love both of the scenes. People who scoffed it need to realize it's just being stupid, or they need a better sense of humor.
Also, I was expecting this to be the darkest of the three, when it might be the lightest, since it probably has more laughs in it than any of the films. And that's fine, after all, it's not Batman.
And as far MJ being killed off, that's highly unlikely, but I do like Gwenn better...probably because I got a thing for Bryce Dallas Howard, but that's another story.
Anyways, I would like to see a fourth film IF, they can make it better or at least just as good as the third one. I hate to see film series continually go down (even though that's not the case with this series). Carnage would be cool, I think they did a good job with Venom even though he didn't get much screen time. Please Marvel, just take your time, and don't rush when and if you make a Spider-man 4.

I support you Venom should have gotten more screen time, and with Carnage even more, and Marvel should take time to make a good Spiderman 4

Overall, I liked Spider-Man 3. 2 is my favourite of the series, but 3 did have its moments. I kinda like how they're trying to make sure the villains in the series all have some connection to Peter -- the Goblins were obvious, but they made Doc Ock a mentor figure, and Sandman a big part of what drove Peter to fight crime. And of course, the effects for Sandman were great.
James Franco might've been the best actor in the film, especially in the fight with Peter near the end. I also really liked how that fight was out-of-costume; just Peter vs. Harry rather than Spidey vs. the Goblin. I wasn't too pleased with his costume, though. And since they didn't say that the Goblin formula increases one's intelligence as well as physical strength, someone who wasn't familiar with the comics might wonder how high-school slacker Harry was able to redesign the glider, suit, and weapons like that.
I wasn't fond of the way Mary Jane was portrayed in the film series, period. That's more due to how the writers changed her character than to Kirsten's acting. I loved Bryce as Gwen, though, and wished she had more screentime.
As for the black suit/Venom storyline . . . I thought it was ok, but way too rushed to really do it justice. I might've preferred it if they saved Venom up for the 4th film, and just had Eddie transform at the end. That said, I rather liked the changes made to Eddie Brock's character -- rather than the stereotypical "brainless bodybuilder," they made him almost a cocky, smart-alecky version of Peter. And I also liked how they did his fight with Spidey; especially how Peter tried to talk him out of it, and ultimately had to use his head rather than his fists to win.
I'm hoping they learn from and build upon this film when they make the next installment(s). Personally, I think Venom isn't dead -- wishful thinking perhaps, but we'll see if I'm right.
I hope they'll do the Lizard as well (since they've pretty much already got his story set), and maybe also Vulture, Scorpion, or Chameleon. They've got a wealth of villains to choose from, so hopefully, they'll take their time and make sure they're picking the right ones. Carnage . . . if they can make him more of a 3-dimensional character (or maybe borrow the Ultimate Spider-Man version), then he might work. But in any case, I'll definitely be eager to see what they come up with.
