It does look quite a bit like her, but I dunno, I doubt she'd dress as Jean Grey. She Probably has no idea who Jean Grey is and has probably never been to a comic convention. ::yellowsmile::

Wow. You've just made the 100th post in the Big Bad Wrestling Thread!. Must feel pretty good. ::yellowroll::

Yeah, Backlash has some nice Wrestlemania-aftermath matches. I can seee Cena retaining his title. There's a possibiliy with Edge, but Triple H doesn't really need to be champ for the 11th time. And if Edge wins, I hope he doesn't have the damn "spinner" belt again. It makes sense for Cena, because its his own custom, but it wouldn't make sense for anyone else to have it.

It almost looks as if Chris Masters is turning Face for the first time. I think there's good chances he'll beat Carlito after that backstab, er, "Backcracker" as it's called. It would be interesting to see him as a Face anyway.

Big Show Vs. Kane will probably be a slow bout, but I'd like to see Big Show put Kane in his place for once. Speaking of Big Show, check out his mugshot from December 1998 (back in his late WCW days as The Giant). I think he fell asleep during it....
http://www.mugsho...Wight.htm

I guess WWE thought they needed a new Kamala, so we get this Ugatoo something or other. He's a somewhat interesting character, and he'll probably work well with Flair's limited ring ability. Speaking of Ric, check out his mugshot.

Ya know who I miss? Chris Kanyon. Who's better than Kanyon? Certainly not his mugshot.

When? At Backlash?

Tonight's RAW actually had some cool moments. Joey Styles getting *censored*ed and telling off the WWE was cool (whether or not it was a shoot). I like how he pointed out the stuff like calling wrestlers "Super Stars." I never got that crap either; I don't consider a guy like Eugene who plays a mentally retarded athlete to be a Super Star. Anyway, this is most likely Styles' set up to return to ECW.

Foley hardly ever dissappoints either on the mic skills. Always gets really into it and sounds pretty crazy with that crackin' voice. The Hardcore rematch should be interesting.

They were a little funny at times, but now I can't stand the Spirit Squad. And I can't stand them getting such big matches lately. They get the Tag Titles out of nowhere and suddenly start getting WWE Title shots? You can't even take them the least bit seriously. They keep having bouts against Eugene and I immediatly change the channel. Cheerleaders vs. Retards just takes it too far for me.

Last night I watched the DVD of Wrestlemania XIX, including all the bonus features where wrestlers would talk about their favorite moments in the PPV's history. It got me all desiring to be part of the wrestling world...

So, inevitably, I had a goofy dream about being in the WWE last night. But we didn't go anywhere and I didn't have any real matches. Tommy Dreamer and Bubba Ray Dudley would taunt me for a Hardcore match but just ended up chasing me around my own lawn a bit. I lived in this dorm-like building (with guys like Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam). They had this huge cabinet full of tons of different kinds of microwavable popcorn. I was going to take one but lost my appetite when I saw a big, stale bowl of carmel corn. Stupid, lazy Legend Killer.

I finally started asking Chris Beniot (standing there shirtless and dressed in his blue tights) why the hell we weren't traveling anywhere and wrestling and why I wasn't learning how to wrestle. He said something about how wrestling's more about "the mind" and intelligence and that he'd show me some stuff the next day. I woke up before I could get any sort of lessons from The Crippler. Kiera Knightely also made an apppearance, sitting on the floor Indian style and telling us about a friggin' coloring book.

I have weird wrestling dreams sometimes, too. Usually, they involve me wrestling back in the '80s, when everything was at its highest point and all my favorites were still in the game. Sometimes I have dreams about wrestling now, but I'm always unbeatable and humiliate my opponents. There was one where I had a match with Vince McMahan for ownership of the WWE. I volunteered to have my hands tied together as a handicap because he's so old. He came into the ring wearing an orange Tina Turner wig, thinking that would intimdate me somehow, I guess. Like I said, my arms were tied up, but I made punching noises with my mouth, and that hurt him somehow, and that's how I won. Nah, I don't even try to understand those weird dreams anymore.

Jeez, no wonder this thread died. Look at the last post! Smile

Raw has kinda sucked the past couple of weeks. Tonight's hour-long Cena vs. HBK match saved this episode, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the whole ridiculous Santino Morelli thing last week. rolleyes This isn't the carnival, that kinda crap is too stupid even for pro wrestling these days.

I admit, I'm getting tired of seeing Lashley vs. Umaga. We've had this at least once a week for the past month or so, and we're getting it again on ECW this week. With the Backlash card set two weeks ago, we've just been marking time ever since, rather than building any tension or progressing any of the storylines.

I am looking forward to Backlash, but I won't be able to watch it until the DVD is released. The only PPVs we watch anymore are Wrestlemania and Summerslam; it's just too much money trying to get 'em all. Batista vs. Taker and the 3-on-1 Handicap match with the ECW title on the line should be fun, but I'm really wanting to see that Fatal 4-Way match for Cena's title. As long as Orton doesn't win, he gets on my damn nerves. I really can't stand that guy.

Hahah. Yeah, that was a pretty odd discussion. Got a good amount of replies when I posted it on WrestlingFigs.com, actually.

That WrestleMania rematch was pretty damn cool last night. I thought it was really odd that the show had an hour left yet were already starting the match and how the beginning went so slow with all the headlocks. Then I started realizing the match was set to end the show. It's strange to realize how they schedule the matches. Cena had a match with Benoit a few weeks back that was way too short. Benoit dominated quite a bit yet he was beaten so quickly - by submission no less. And you always know there'll be an interference of some sort when they schedule a main event with only 12 minutes left in the show.

I agree that the Lashley/Umaga feud isn't too great. Usually, I find Vince McMahon's segments awful, but the night after WM23 when he was running from Lashley, hiding his bald head was undeniably hilarious. The deal with the new Intercontinental Champion was odd, but if he can actually perform well as a normal wrestler, I'll be okay with it. As I figured, he worked at OVW prior to this.

Good God, that Kane/Khali match was LAME. Somebody needs to teach Khali to do something other than just pick people up and throw them back down.
Yeah, he's basically a spectacle and not a real performer. He looked confused when he tried to scoop Carlito up on his shoulder for a slam last night. He tried to grab him about three different ways before getting him up. A talent like Carlito didn't deserve to be squashed like that, especially to a guy that just lumbers around as such.

On a much darker side of things, he actually killed a man inadvertently while doing a flapjack during a training session. I thought I remember reading that it wasn't his fault though. You can read more here:

Huh, I didn't know that. I'm also surprised that Khali actually trained as a wrestler. I'm not just beingt an ass, I really find it hard to believe that he has any real training based on what he's shown us so far. Of course, Big Show was pretty lame for a couple of years too, at the beginning of his career, and look at him now. Maybe Khali will wow us yet.

I've been trying to find some information about the condition of Matt (I think) Hardy. (I still get the Hardy bros. mixed up.) The one who was fighting the guy who looks like Larry the Cable Guy on Raw Monday, it appeared that he was injured at the end of the match. He just lay there. I thought he was just selling the match at first, but then his brother looked rather panicked when he jumped around beside him and was trying to rouse him. Then, the "technical difficulties" screen came up, so it looks like he was really injured. If it was just an angle, they would have made a big show of bringing the stretcher out to the ring and carrying him away, and mentioned it later in the show. They did neither, which makes me think it's probably legit. I hope the guy is okay.

Well, I figured it was time to resurrect the Wrestlin' Thread for all the crazy stuff going on with World Wrestling Entertainment...

Tonight was an amazing ECW Championship match between John Morrison and CM Punk. I'd say that, for me, at least 1/3 of what goes on during wrestling programs today is just annoying and almost embarrassing to watch as a fan, while the rest is the good performance that'll keep me always tuning in. This particular match made me proud to be a fan, the type of match I'd show to someone new to the spectacle and say "This is wrestling. This is why I watch." It was also great to see Punk gain his first WWE gold only about a year after his debut - just a clean, no-gimmick performer with an excellent ring ability that definitely deserved it.

Speaking of "clean" performers, this brings me to another reason for posting: current news on WWE's suspensions regarding its "Wellness Policy." For those that aren't aware, here's a briefing:
Newsday reported late Friday night that WWE has suspended yet another wrestler for violation of the company's Wellness Policy.

The outlet credited WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt with confirming the eleventh suspension; the attorney added that no more suspensions were expected.

WWE first announced the ten suspensions Thursday after confirming information it received from the Albany County district attorney's office, which apparently labeled the wrestlers as clients of Signature Pharmacy, an Internet dealer accused of distributing steroids and other prescription drugs.

It had not issued a website update confirming the eleventh suspension at press time, nor had it revealed the identities of the other ten.

This obviously is in relation to the Benoit murder-suicide and the bad publicity it's caused WWE. I have a feeling that WWE's reputation of this decade will be remembered largely for its steroid scandal, and I can't help but take stronger pride in athletes like CM Punk during a time like this.

In reading about that, I found several other big news stories regarding WWE performers like Ric Flair, Cryme Tyme, and the Benoit investigation. I may not have posted on here when that tragic event happened, but trust me, I was very upset and am still curious for more information regarding it. Benoit was honestly my favorite WWE performer during the several months leading up to his death and regardless of his actions, I try to remember his wrestling career fondly.

Here's one of the current news articles. See the bottom left-hand column for other WWE stories...

Press Conference Could Reveal Brain Damage In Benoit

For some reason I didn't see this post. I just read through your blog post, sounds like it was a pretty good show.

It was a fun show, I can't wait til they come this way again! I'm going to a locally-based federation's show this Saturday. The main event is an ECW-style "fans bring weapons" match, should be fun!

This week's ECW main event was indeed a phenomenal match. Despite being tired of Punk being denied the title repeatedly, I still enjoy seeing these two square off because the matches are always so damn good. This may well have been their best to date. I just hope Punk is allowed to keep the title for a while, and not have to drop it to Morrison again once he returns from his suspension.

I'm not too into that (I'm more of the "scientific" wrestling fan), but hopefully you have fun. Maybe you could bring a cast iron skillet and see if the same thing happens as with Sandman vs. Cactus Jack in ECW. Smile

Yeah, same here. Speaking of which, this is a pretty crazy time. I've never seen something like the suspensions that are currently underway. You can tell who's suspended by who's being "injured" and taken out of the storyline. So far, you can pretty much bet that it includes:

Umaga (being decimated by Triple H)
William Regal (being decimated by Cena)
John Morrison (dropping the ECW title to Punk)
Chavo Guerrero (losing the "I Quite" match against Mysterio)
Chris Masters (not appearing to continue his feud with Palumbo)

Others that have not appeared at recent house shows include:
Funaki
King Booker
Mr. Kennedy

Oddly enough, Randy Orton is a double offender and guilty of the same act as the others, but "did his time" already. I think they just don't want to end his main event feud with Cena.

This has even seeped into TNA, with management asking Andrew Martin to shrink down so fans don't get the idea that he's using steroids. I don't quite understand them doing this while including guys like Scott Steiner on their program. Maybe they assume that fans really take him as a "genetic freak."

Yeah, Steiner is obviously 'roided up. I think that may be why they had him injured by the Dudleys last month and taken off the show for a while. My friends and I have all been talking about this for months, but this is probably the worst year ever for the WWE. It was rough going for a few years in the early '90s, but not so much all at once like it is right now. Aside from time-wasting garbage like the Smackdown wedding, they've still been managing to put on a pretty decent show. Smackdown has been going down the tubes since Edge got injured, but Raw is usually pretty decent. ECW, suprisingly, is the best show the WWE has going right now. It used to be the show I put off watching, but it's improved a great deal the past few months.

That local show was pretty decent. Some of the guys there are pretty skilled, there were a few that were definitely on par with a lot of the guys we see in the WWE and TNA. Only a couple were truly awful, but man, they were Mark Henry-level bad. And that's BAAAAAD. Overall, though, it was a pretty good show. Hell, it was worth $8.
I don't go nuts over the hardcore matches, but I do like seeing 'em sometimes. I just like variety, I don't wanna see just technical mat wrestling or just hardcore all the time, I like a good mix. I got to help during the main event. Their champion used the pizza pan I brought on his opponent's head until it no longer resembled a pan. Later, he had the guy stunned and asked me to bring him the ladder that they had leaning against the wall, where it was put after the ladder match earlier. I carried it over and handed it to him, and he laid it out and bodyslammed his opponent onto it.

Hopefully we've still got some wrestlin' fans in attendance. I thought I'd make my WrestleMania XXIV predictions. Last year I did really well, but there are a few this year that are tricky predictions. My brother's at a friends watching it while I sit here with school work to catch up on (plus, he's many miles away from here).

JBL vs. Finlay - Winner: JBL, then continuing the feud

Umaga vs. Batista - Winner: Batista, then maybe continuing the feud

Battle Royal for ECW title match - Winner: Henry - This is hard to say. And figuring out who will win the #1 contendership match is already tricky enough without the actual ECW title winner. Whoever wins will continue the feud I'm sure.

Mr. Kennedy vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho vs. Carlito vs. Montel Vontavious Porter vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison - Winner: MVP/Jericho/Morrison - This is always hard, and I want to go with a heel because they like cheap surprise matches. Whoever wins, I doubt they would go for the ECW belt.

Maria and Ashley vs. Beth Phoenix and Melina - Winners: Beth Phoenix and Melina - Melina and Phoenix are easily the better athletes, so I think with Snoop Doggy Diggy Doh involved, the Playboy Bunnies might lose and then get post-match revenge. Hard to say.

Floyd Mayweather vs. The Big Show - Winner: Mayweather - This is one of the very hardest to call. Either one will have a bad result. Fans really want Big Show to win, but Mayweather losing could hurt his career. But the official ruling doesn't necessarily signal the last laugh, so many something will happen post-match where Big Show gets revenge after losing.

Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair - Winner: Michaels - This is the hardest one to predict. I could picture a feud branching off from this after Michaels refuses to pin Flair, but I could also see this being Flair's bow-out. And after the emotional Hall of Fame speech he gave last night, I might just go with Michaels winning. I hate to have to miss this match more than any other.

Edge vs. The Undertaker - Winner: The Undertaker, then continuing the feud

Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena - Winner: Triple H - This is hard to figure. Definitely between Triple H and Cena, but I think I'll go with Triple H since he's dropped the title or lost a title match to so many guys at all the previous WrestleManias (XX, 21, and 22 all in a row) while Cena has always prevailed. The feud will continue after this match of course.

We had a good Mania this year, a good bit better than I had expected. I was spot-on in most of my predictions, but I was wrong about JBL vs Finlay and the triple threat for the WWE Championship. I got Backlash right all the way down the card, though, which is a first.

I've never felt a strong desire to order a TNA PPV before, but I'm actually wanting to see Sacrifice, now that Awesome Kong has been added to the tournament. I've been telling everyone for months that they need to let her loose in the men's heaveyweight division.
