For those of you that are fans of Bane, JSA Classified #17 reveals a little bit more about the origins of the drug Venom. It looks like the story is only two parts so it wouldn't be hard to squeeze into your comic budget.

Spoilers to follow.

Basically Venom was derived from an early version of Miraculo, the chemical that Rex Tyler, the original Hourman, created. Rex and his son, Rick, have served as Hourman by taking Miraculo to gain enhanced abilities for an hour after each dose. Rex thought that he had taken all traces of how to make Miraculo when he quit his job, but apparently he missed some early verisions. The company used some of those early versions to make Venom in an attempt to recreate Miraculo.

I was wondering if that unusual appearance would serve a significant purpose. Looks like it did. I'd like to read it, but I probably shouldn't be buying too many issues as of now, 'till I get a new job. In fact, I'll probably drop everything except Batman and Detective Comics...

What's happening between Bane and Hourman anyway? I don't care about spoilers with this as I doubt I'll get the issues anyway.

I'll pick these up as it's only a couple of issues and I love a Bane story; but the sheer volume of titles available can be daunting. You can only afford so much, and even if you can afford it, you can only read so much!

I too try and tell myself I'll stick to only Detective and Batman, but I still end up buying more.

You walk in the shop, there is a WHOLE WALL of stuff to choose from - just picking up only a couple of things is HARD!!
