His stuff is what helped get me interested in Batman. He was really able to play with the shadows well to show a Batman that used the dark effectivly. Then could bring Batman or Bruce into the light when needed.
Yep, Norm is one of the greats, one of my all-time favorite artists. It's been altogether too long since he did anthing Batman-related, or anything DCU, for that matter. It'd be nice if he and Alan Grant would reunite for a story arc in All-Star Batman once the Miller/Lee arc is over... assuming the rest of that arc ever ships. :rolleyes:
That would be awesome. All Star should really be used for that after they get this trendy arc over with. Let's bring back those modern classic writers to do some good stories.
I am largely quitting ASB&R:TBW. I will probably pick up the next issue for the fold out batcave. Hopefully it will be in the middle so tha tit can be pulled out as a poster.
I haven't bought A* Batman since the second issue. All the delays are getting on my nerves. Plus, it's not good enough that I feel like I have to read it as soon as it comes out. I've been enjoying it, but not in a "boy, this book is good" way. More of a "I am sickly fascinated by this" kinda way. The whole purpose of the All Star line is to deliver stories unfettered by continuity, featuring the iconic depictions of the characters that are familiar to the general public. Frank is certainly entitled to write stories about his interpretation of Batman, but it's not how most people think of the character. The Grant/Breyfogle, Dixon/Nolan, O'Neil/Adams, and Englehart/Rogers versions, to name a few, are. I think those teams are the ones we should be seeing in All-Star, while Frank and Jim should have just been given a DKR-continuity miniseries for the story they're telling. I gotta say, when I've loaned my copy of All-Star Batman to friends who were curoius about it, they've all been like, "Jeez, Batman is nuts! Does he always curse at children," and stuff like that.
