I know, DK, u have already gone through this but i wanted to do a more detailed sumarization....not that your a bad writer. Batman: Venom
It all hits off with batman solving a case to the kidnapping of a child named Sissy Porter. He finds out the girl is in the sewers and races toward the sewers to try and save her. In the sewers, batman finds Sissy tied to some sticks, sinking below the surface. batman runs forward, but is stopped in his tracks when a pile of rocks fall down from the ceiling, blocking the way. Batman quickly lifts rock by rock, getting to the kid. The last rock is far too heavy for batman. It is too late. Sissy drowns.
Back in the batcave, batman is angry at himself for letting the girl die because of his own weaknesses. He breaks the news to Sissy's father. Suprisingly, her father is neither shocked nor sad. The father, who is a scientist, said the kidnappers were not after money, but after pills that enhance your strength. He offers batman one but batman rejects it.A kidnapper arrives at the scientists' house, but batman knocks him unconscious. Batman dives out of the window just in time to see the partner of the kidnapper driving off in a van. Batman jumps on top of it, hoping to stop the van and catch the driver but he slips off and loses the van.
Batman returns to the batcave and tries to lift a weight that is too heavy for him.His shoulder is injured and the muscle inside it is torn. Still, Batman dosen't care and goes as Bruce Wayne to try and get some info about the kidnappers. He suceeds. He goes to the kidnappers location(as batman) and fights them but his shoulder is injured even more when one of the kidnappers uses a stick to beat Batman. The other kidnapper punches Batman out of the window.Batman falls flat onto the ground. One kidnapper says,"i aint done wit that bozo yet.let's nail him.", but a mysterious man in a hat says "no.his time has not come yet."
Batman goes to the scientists' house again, wanting to increase his strength because of the incident the day before and Sissy Porters' death. He eats one and doctor porter gives him a months' supply.Batman returns to the batcave feeling no stronger. He lifts the weight that caused him the injury and can lift it.He smiles and says ,"now for a simple investigation."
He finds the kidnappers in a bar and bashes them up. 1 kidnapper tries to hit him, but batman twists his hand and gives him a powerful punch. He flies outta the window. Batman just laughs.(From then onwards, you can tell he is becoming crazy)
Batman later dresses up(as bruce wayne)in a hat and a trenchcoat to conceal his identity while he beats up some punks just because he wants to see them gasp and beg for mercy. When he is finished, he stands outside the rain and laughs(again).
He talks to alfred about this and alfred asks what the whole purpose of this "exercise" was. Bruce says,"to scare 'em, alfred."He then goes to the weights and lifts them up.He is not so capable of doing so and takes more pills.

nah, its real. in fact, its pretty old. its pure realistic batman. the cover is batman looking very angry and constipated. ive never read it, but it sounds really interesting.
after jason died, u wud think batman wud committ suicide; but after the death of a little girl, he takes drugs.
anyways...now we know batman is a crazy psychotic superhero...not that we didnt know that before..
i dont like this book. it takes away everything thats special about batman. batman has faced many great losses and tragedies and the real batman was never so weak(mentally) that he would take venom. thats just NOT batman. I saw this book in stores and just threw it back, what a retarded concept.

this story was originaly published in 1991 in LODK 15-20. It was written by Denny O Neil and was meant to be a kind of prelude to the whole Vengeance of Bane and Knightfall storyline. Its not a stupid concept. It shows Batman as a fallable man, not a superman, and sadly it caused the death of a little girl. His mission was to stop the needless taking of life, and this showed him that even he cannot do that all the time. In addition to the death of the little girl and the following "failures" he was being so hard on himself that he slipped. made a mistake and wound up taking the pills. This whole thing, IF you take the time to actually read the story, was a big ellaborate set up to get Batman to take the pills. It showed how quickly the steroid drug can become addictive, and how dangerous it can be.
Its actually a very good story in the early days of Batmans career and foreshadows the tragedy that will come years later.

This story features a much younger, more inexperienced, and slightly reckless Dark Knight who was willing to try some things that he would never have considered a couple of years later. He was so devastated at his failure to save the life of a small child-- and who among us wouldn't be?-- that he took extreme measures to ensure that such a thing would never happen again. Once he realized how badly he had erred, he took immediate action to rectify his mistake. Further, he pursued the purveyors of the Venom steroid and made sure they would never endanger anyone else. It's a great story of a Batman who is still learning how to be a crimefighter, and hasn't yet completely settled on exactly what methods he will use in his war on crime.
