Have you ever had one of those times when you imagined or dreamed about something only you thought it was real? This past week I started work on my Batmobile and other Bat and Villain Vehicles display. A lot of my collection is still in their original packaging and stored away in tubs someplace, and not all of it is together, otherwise I could solve this little mystery myself.
I seem to recall buying Batmobiles years ago that were small, maybe 1:64 scale. I recall they came in boxes, not bubbles on a card. The packaging was plain medium blue generic and not directly related to any one property (i.e. BTAS, Batman Returns, etc). I recall buying them in the late 90’s, but do not recall if it was retail or specialty stores, but I’m leaning toward comic book stores. I don’t recall who made them, Ertl was a big die-cast producer back then, but I’m not sure they were Ertl. Perhaps they were imported. What I do recall is none of the Batmobiles were from the films or TV shows, they were unique designs and probably comic based. I don’t know how many different ones of them were produced, but I recall a few different ones and I recall seeing them sporadically.
I’ve looked in the BatmanYTB database and don’t see them. I have not stumbled across them on eBay or anyplace else. If they are out in my garage somewhere I don’t know where they are. Now I wonder if I’m crazy and dreamed the whole thing up long ago and now think it was real.
Spencer, do you or anybody else have any idea what these are or might have been?

After a couple days of searching and looking at all the cool Batmobile collections on the Batmobile History site I have come to the conclusion that I must have dreamed about buying these Batmobiles long ago and it got in my subconscious and now years later I thought it was real.
It’s odd because I don’t recall ever dreaming about toys and I do know I have plastic Batmobile Christmas ornaments out in the garage somewhere and I guess I thought the same way about these others.
