As many of you know, Corgi's Batmobile license runs out at the end of the year. It looks like things will be cut off even shorter than that, as three of their "on deck" Batmobiles have been cancelled as well: the BMBV5 (Child of Dreams), BMBV6 (As the Crow Flies), & BMBV7 (Batman D.O.A.). So get 'em while you can, because it looks like we may have seen the last of the new releases from Corgi. |

Possibly...but it may also open the door for Mattel to take over the license. I'm just speculating, mind you, but it could be a reason why they didn't say anything at the SDCC despite everyone expecting them to: they may have been waiting for the license to officially change hands before any word came out. |

OK, update: I have talked with a Corgi rep, and they say that while the three I mentioned are indeed cancelled, they are still planning for new cars with figures to be released in 2007. So even though these three won't be released, the good news is that Corgi isn't out of the game yet. I will post more as soon as I can. |

Oh man, this is kinda sad. Corgi makes some really nice quality stuff! I'm still working on getting all of them though so maybe this is good news, hee hee.

I just picked up the 1960 Cadillac looing Batmobile and the
Subway Bat Transport today at my friendly neighborhood
comic shop...
If this is the final product line for Corgi then...
We should raise our beer mugs up high and take
a real good slug to a great Batmobile toy run,
from a company that never let us down on fine
products...
Heres to Corgi...
If they only had two more years...

Was there a list of what was cancelled? I was not aware of the others mentioned above and I did not see them on the Corgi Web Site. With the exception of the box sets, which I passed on these are what I don?t have yet.
1:43 Scale
1930's DC Comics Batmobile 77323
Catwoman Catmobile 77322
Two Tone Two Face 77318
2000 Batmobile #4 77349
2000 Batmobile #5 77353

If it helps any, I found 77318/50's Two-Face Car at Wal-Mart. I haven't found the other four either. |

I believe what your are looking for is commonly called Corgi Batmobile 267, which was first issued in 1966 and reissued again by Corgi up until 1976. I?m sure Spencer has more detailed information about it. There were also smaller Corgi Jr?s versions of the Batmobile and I have one about 1:64 scale made by Husky. I?m not sure about the year, I don?t have it handy to look at.
eBay is about the only place you will find one. Sometimes Dealers at Conventions have them too. Expect to pay a lot for one, ($200 or more) especially one that is still near mint condition. Although palyed with models or ones missing items are often much less, but still displayable and collectible.

Only the three I specifically listed have been cancelled, but new waves should begin next spring (I have confirmed with Corgi that they are indeed releasing more in the future; their license will be good for a bit longer). The BMBV5 is the last one you mentioned, and the other two were originally supposed to be out this October/November. Here are images for all three:

FlaBat is right - the 267 is probably the most famous and the most common diecast available for that car. However, Corgi did release a 1/64 version as well, and several other companies released toys as well. You can see all of the TV Batmobiles that have been available here. |

Thank You Spencer, those Batmobiles looked great. I had not seen them before. Is it possible that they were far enough in production that those will get released next year?

WOW! Those 3 pix look cool. I like the last one ( # 3 ) the best!
Does anybody know what store has the best selection & prices on these? I've only been able to find a few at Walmart.
Thanx, Tommy

So far Wal-Mart has been one of the best places to find these. Sometimes Toys R Us has them too (they had two exclusive box sets) and if Kay Bee Toys still has stores in your area you might find one there too. Some Comic Book/Speciality Stores carry them as well so check your local dealers.

Glad these aren't done yet after all. I haven't bought nearly as many of these as I want to, due to space and money issues, but I love 'em all the same. At least I have my favorite Batmobile-- the 1940 version-- in both 1:43 and 1: 24 scale.
