The blue variant was released shortly after the black one near the beginning of the line, but it didn't seem to be as plentiful as the black version.

That 1/24th is by far the least interesting of the Corgis, and possible one of the least interesting in their whole range. That general shape is one of my favourite Batmobiles, but that model seems pretty lifeless. It's assorted 1/43rd comparables work much better.

I see they're listing the Modern Age set (on their US site) as being available on 22/2/07 (so it's again been put back). They're not even on the UK site yet. They're on Ebay already (and I've checked with the sellers, they're in stock and ready to post). Where do sellers get these things from before they're released??

I think part of the reason why the 1/24 version suffers so much is because they had to make it relatively kid-safe. Compare it to the Danbury Mint version, and you can see how the Corgi one looks much softer than its "adult collectible" counterpart.

As far as the eBay sellers...sometimes it seems like a company's promotion department are the last ones to know what the manufacturing division is doing. Just look at the Hot Wheels site here: they still list the Batmobile as "Coming Soon" with no photo available, while all of us have known what it was going to look like for over a month now.

Deja-Vu; hello - pleased to meet you! This an addictive website! Whereabouts in the UK are you? (in other words what TK Maxx was it in?). I've got them all misb, but I want display models too (and a lot of my stuff came from assorted TK Maxxs - they're great!).

Probably very true about the toys/adult nature of the cars. I've never actually seen a Danbury Batmobile in real life, but I'd love to get them (both!). They look beautiful. Although in the 1st instance at least I'd definitely get their 40s job, not the 60s version. They're unavailable in the UK, but available from the US site. Despite repeated emails about shipping information, they simply ignored me. Charming. Hello, I'm looking at spending about $300 on your products, I've got a credit card and everything! Any danger of some info???? Please.

I've never really followed Hot Wheels (although I'd still love a decently priced Halloween Dream).

And here I am gassing about Batmobiles when I promised Beyond a review of Two Of A Kind.......

I have just recently totally fallen in love with these extremely cool Corgi cars & plan to get them all! I'm also very excited to learn about the cars coming w/ figures, that's cool! ( Thanx for posting that ).

My friend went to a Walmart tonight & said he saw some on Clearence for $1.00 each. I asked him if he bought any & he said, "No, I didn't know which ones you needed". Arrrggghhh, I would have bought them ALL anyway at that price, ha ha! I'm goin' there 1st thing tommorrow, hope they're still there.

CORGI BATMOBILE FANS in the UK;

Seems like TK Maxx have had another load of end of lines' in, that they're selling off at the usual cheapo prices. There's lots of stuff (but no 1/43rds). I don't know how widespread they are, but they have them in St Albans & Leeds (which it's got to be said, is pretty widespread - albeit only 2 stores). Get them at about 1/3 price while you can....wink

I love these 1/43rds too - just wish they were a tad cheaper around here. It should be pretty interesting to see how those figures turn out. I hope they don't offset the whole display when you've got them all together with the older figure-less versions.

Here's the '07 Corgi catalog as avaiable at the February Toy Fair. Not any different than what we've seen, but I figured I'd show the photos anyway...

I'm actually quite shocked - I ordered the gold 1/43rd toy fair special sometime ago (posted previously) and it's turned up today with my Modern Age Set!

The Modern Age Set is simply gorgeous. It's probably not my 2 favourite cars, but I love these more than any other stuff Corgi do. I reckon it must've been a year ago that I first saw a picture of this. The outer wraparound card also carries a small DC logo - which I don't recall on any of the previous boxes (although they're upstairs at the moment and I'm too lazy to go and have a look).

The figures are lovely too. They're in scale, but they're solid diecast little things, with (considering the size) decent detail.

Very happy from the Shadow Of St Albans Abbey.........

TK Maxx have actually got the Modern Age set in their stores at £9.99. It's only been available for about a month! And naturally I spotted these after I'd ordered from Corgi (at double that - plus postage!)

So, do you do the sane thing and just keep the first one, or do you do what I do and get a second one so that the "average" price is more palatable?

Hhhmm, good question.

Right now, I'm going to do the sane thing.

I've a few duplicate 1/43rds - but I've simply got so much stuff, I just don't think I can justify buying things I've already got. Especially when none of it is currently on display anyway (and quite frankly, I'm skint).

Incidentally Spencer, as a modeller/creative talent - you wouldnt believe the performance I'm having trying to get a tin of (matt) navy blue paint!!! I got a right result on some shelves about a month ago; I paid £5 for a wall unit that is absolutely perfect for all my Doctor Who figures (or at least the 5" range), but I need to do it up so it looks the part. I've tried about 5 or 6 shops and everyone says the same "I'll do you a tin of gloss!" - but thats all everyones got! It's not what I need.

I was thinking about picking yours (or Inzo's) brains anyway, as I'd like to a make sign for it - but not sure what to do it with...

Do you have Humbrol paints in any of the stores near you? I've heard they are very good, and they have a Matte Navy Blue (#077) that may be what you're looking for. If the color isn't quite right for you, you can use the gloss color of your choice and then cover it with a matte clear coat.

Although, if it's a porous surface like wood or fiberboard, any paint you use will likely appear flat regardless of what it started out as.

I was just having a ramble thru Play.com and these are advertised for June, July & November release, I cannot believe the prices. Play aren't expensive, and these are listed at £17.99 - thats more than 3 times the RRP for original models (£4.99). Play are saying they come with a 10cm figure. If thats correct then maybe the prices arent so bad - but I think they'll come with the little figures that accompanied the recently released Modern Age set - in which case it's a total rip-off.

They've also got this, which I don't think has been pictured or mentioned yet......

It comes with (apparently) a 10cm figure!

They've also got the Hot Wheels Tumbler for £14.99 - which is very cheap for over here.

Ouch. That still seems a little steep for a repaint and what's essentially a Star Wars-sized figure. That repaint of the DG car is a new one, I hadn't heard about it. But heck, after a can of black paint I had one back in August wink

I've given up on these now - they're constantly being put back, and put back again. The first of these was due in July and thats (obviously) been and long since gone. Now the earliest due dates are supposedly later this month - yeah, right. They've not been included in any Corgi new release email, ever.

I think it's likely these will remain as pictures only.

Since these were first talked about - I've been collecting Corgi's Forward March Figure range (and pretty much completed the set - blinkin' things have cost a fortune) and the detail on their diecast figures is absolutely unbelievable - and if the figures that they promised with these repaints are anywhere near as good as those then they'll have been beautiful - but I don't think we're about to find out.

It would be great if these new ones got released, even if they are just repaints. Until then here is a look at my 1:43 Corgi Batmobile collection.

The 1989 Batmobile is an ERTL, but it fits in nicely

and some Hot Wheels 1:64 and a Johnny Lightning 1:24 as well

Great looking collection, FlaBat! What did you use for your tiers? I had made a set for my old shelves, but they were just a temporary measure and didn't look that good.

Here is my current collection of 1/24~1/25 cars, whichh are the only ones not boxed up at the moment:

Too bad Corgi didn't do more in this scale, I would've liked to have gotten more.
