This is not even a rumor, just a comment.

All my area Wal-Marts are deleting the line. If you go, and see the peg, and the shelf tag has a D on it, thats not a good sign. I am bettting that Mattel has screwed this up again, and has not been shipping the figures. All the Wal-Marts arounf here have had empty pegs since Christmas, and after a month, they will get rid of the empty space.

Ao, ideas? Comments? Whats your take?

I'm sure that they will still be around, like in the comic shops.. but once Wal-Marts been screwed, it's hard to get the account back. It took alot for Mattel to get back into there with the JLU line.

I've noticed that Teen Titans isn't in there anymore either.

Before we start bashing Mattel we should find out why the figures have a ?D? code at Wal-Mart. They seem to be selling well enough, there is very little if any on the pegs at the stores down here.

While I have not seen Bane with Osito, I did pick up a ?gray knee pins? Batman, but only the one I saw. I still have a ?blue knee pins? Batman MOC and may keep him that way as in investment, maybe it will be worth more one day.

I?d hate to think that Mattel has screwed up AGAIN, but you never know. Mattel should make the line exclusive to one or two store chains and not over distribute like they did before, otherwise the cool Batgirl we saw will be headed overseas just like last time.

Trust me.. D means Delete.. they do it for movies as well. Now it could just be, that they are deleting the tag until the item comes in.

But, I also know for a fact that none of the area Wal-Marts have had these figures since before Christmas.

My area Walmarts (5 spread over 4 cities) have had tags up since 12/20, but never put any stock on their shelves that I ever saw. If they did it sold quickly because I usually hit to aisles no less than once a week. One of those stores is across the road from the Walmart home office. It would seem like I would have seen something by now. Target and Toys R us have had about 1 case stocked, but I haven't seen anything else. Plenty of JLU and the Batman though.

None of the 3 Wal-Marts here have had any of them since just after Christmas. Each store only recieved 1 case to my knowledge, and the pegs have been bare since the end of December. It's possible Mattel hasn't been shipping the figures; certain retailers have claimed to have had that problem with them before.

Dammit. That doesn't sound good. Oh well, I was half-expecting to have to win my grey knee pins Batman ane Bane with Osito on eBay. They still had one Batman left at my Wal Mart and didn't have any new shipments on the shelves yet. I'll check Thursday and see.

In an unrelated story, I just finished my Persuasion speech on why Batman Begins is a great film in Speech class. Here's hoping for a B+. :rol:

Nope, I want Toy Biz to get the line next. They have done a great job with Marvel Legends, so I'd like to see what they could do with Batman.

The only problem with Toy Biz is their horrible quality control. I've stopped buying anything produced by Toy Biz because I'm sick of buying figures, then discovering that they've broken while still inside the package. I really wish a smaller company like SOTA or Mezco could get the rights. It'll never happen, but it'd be nice. They're a bit cheaper than Dc Direct, and their stuff is very high quality. Always good, sturdy figures with excellent articulation, accessories and paint apps. Or, Mattel could just get their act together. Smile

Mattel will never get their act together. When they use Hasbro sales records to decide what to sell, there is something really wrong. I know that Mattel has been restructered a bit.. but you can't tell by the way the toys are shipped.

I've picked up a couple of ML figures, but for the most part I've been unimpressed. The articulation is nice, but to me they sacrifice too much of the sculpt to do it. Plan B or Palisades had the best mix of articulation and style, too bad they're not options.

Mezco seems to be the next big thing in terms of collectible action figures. Their sculpts are unbelievable. But I don't see how DC Direct would stop producing Batman figures. I mean, the company is called DC Direct. And Mezco isn't a kid's toy company, so there'll always be a licensing deal with the likes of Mattel, Hasbro, Toy Biz, maybe Playmates in the future.

I took a good look at the DC SuperHeroes peg at my Wal Mart, which by the way is now entirely empty. Aside from the abbreviated name, it had 1/12/06 and "AD". ...Add? :rol:

Out of 7 walmarts around me none got the Superhereos before christmas. 2 Weeks after christmas only 2 had gotten some - I mean one box, (about 6-figures). I had to pick up the set of four from two different Walmarts, but I did get Osito. Then 3-4 weeks later another walmart got in a set, with yet another Osito, which I left.
What makes me think that this is a Mattel problem is that not only did 3/7 Walmarts around me get them, but niether of the 2 targets or 2 TRUS's got them.
1 TRUS got about 2 cases in with grey pins, near the end of january.
The pegs are up at the walmarts, 8.88 tags for DC Superhereos right next to the JLU, same at the Targets...just nothing has been put up there yet.

I noted the "AD" code on the Peg sticker at Wal-Mart for the DC SuperHeroes figures. But the "AD" code was on The Batman pegs too.
