That would explain why there's a new Scarecrow figure in the TDK toyline. I had wondered about that. |

A new Joker for the third? No, I wouldn't like that. A new Rachel is bad enough (not anything against the new one, I just hate when they get different actors/actresses). Not that I nessesarily want The Joker to die in The Dark Knight. But I'm guessing most everybody will agree with me after seeing the movie, that we don't want another actor stepping in as the Joker. |

That's why in all the years of comic books Joker is still alive. Burton only really killed him because he's not a fan of the books and doesn't know the symbolism of the character.
Well Green Gobin died in Spider-Man, he was the #1 villian in that.

I'm not saying you can't kill lead villains, I'm saying you should be true to the comics. And Joker and Batman's fight against each other is never ending in the comics. One can't die until the other dies, basically.
Now Goblin's death was great because it was how Goblin died in the comics (well, until they retconned it anyway).

I fully believe they shouldnt die unless they die in the comics. The third movie is said to be based off The Long Halloween. Which i've gone back and read since hearing the news and it seems to be a good direction to go in. I can't help to think how great it would be if they built up that batgirl chacater only for the joker to comeback and murder her. Just the shock of seing that on the screen would be worth the bad parts of the movies she would take up. |

Replacing Heath in the third movie would be a HUGE mistake. There should not be a Joker in the sequel. It wouldn't make sense at all. |

At the end the Joker says something about The Freaks of Gotham will now come come out or someting along those lines.. So, I think the thrid should be just that, bring them on! Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, then a few of the lesser known ones.. why so many?
Because, it means Batman would have his hands full. I think do that, and through in a mob boss or two and it would make for a great film...

I have to say that I disagree with the fact of having so many villains on one movie, just because experiences in the past have proved us that many villains in one movie is a bad direction to take (for example, Batman and Robin), although I'm sure Nolan would pull it off but I think they should have one main villain that has never been seen in the big screen (take your pick from the Rogue's Gallery) like David S. Goyer said that for a sequel they would explore a villain never before seen in the big screen.
I was thinking that for The Dark Knight sequel the villain could be maybe Killer Moth, since he is like the anti-Batman and would make for a great villain if done correctly, since I do like your idea of a few lesse known one, I would pick Zeiss because of a great battle that could be done between Zeiss and Batman.
Also I wanted to ask do you think that Bruce Wayne/Batman will be heart broken in the sequel because of Rachel's death? Do you think that maybe his attitude will be darker than in Batman Begins and in The Dark Knight because of this event? |

Killer-Moth may be too comic booky for this series, but how about something more monstrous like Man-Bat? This would continue to show Batman's effect on Gotham as Lanstrom attempts to take Batman's dual identity to the next level with Jekyl & Hyde results. This coupled with Two-Face's return of course. |

I think he will strugle a bit, is human nature & he almost kill his parent's murder.
But he has more important things to worry about...(His reputation/Symbol).
And if the plan to hide Harvey Dent's truth fail, then he has no choice to clean his name up.
Then you have an Alfred to straight him up. I think the true will come foward. It will be easier to let her go if he knows the truth at some convenient point about Rachel's choice.
Directors knows how to fool us some times, just wait & see.
Let see what happen to the Tumbler or what vehicle would be needed at the third movie. perhaps a Batboat or Batplane?
I hope the Tumbler is not cut out. but as he need a better Batsuit, now I think he needs to improve his vehicle.

In my opinion Man-Bat is more "comic booky" than Killer Moth since Killer Moth has a great story behind him about being a person that dresses up like a Moth to do the opposite of what Batman does, therefore being the anti-Batman, if design and done correctly he would be a great villain leaving out obviously the Charaxes part of his life.

And you know.. does it really have to TOP this one? I would be perfectly ok if the 3rd one is more like Begins, a good movie, but not better than TDK...

I totally agree with that... I think Batman Begins is totally a diferent movie.
When I finished to watch TDK, I was not sure wich one I liked the best.
So I think both movies are unique... I think TDK is too intense, there is alot of stress, so I will not like to watch it all the time as with Begins. it doesn't not mean that I like it less, but its a strong movie-true action.
But is great both for ocations.
Begins, I love all that spiritual yourney that Bruce took to become Batman & Ninja!!!!!!! . just like the Anime Gotham Knight: going trough Pain.
A very philosophical with action movie, just like Star Wars. I'm not geting tire of this movie ever. quite poetic one along with the music hmmm.love it.
So yes I like the same way both movies for what these are...
I guess when the DVD of TDK come, I will be watching both movie one after another some times lol!
@ Chris, I think you are right, the last movie can complete the sandwich, soft-hard-soft |

Who I think will be the villains in the third film:
Catwoman
Riddler or some 2nd or 3rd tier villain that knows Batman's identity.
Edit:
See "The Dark Knight" post-release thread for why (contains spoilers, so I won't post it here).
Sum Nox!

Remember Joker is still out there. They have to kill him off sooner or later and Gordon's wife and son have to die too...
