Exactly!! I totally agree with you about Burton's stuff, he just gave them the names... I was thinking that as I watched the first film. But remember, this IS a reboot. The Nolan Joker is pretty far off from the original version... And to change him and get enormous amounts of good feedback when he's not the same at all, that's what I would try to aim for with Riddler...

Actually, Heath's Joker is VERY loyal to the comic books. Read Alan Moore's Killing Joke and Batman # 1, Heath's Joker is basically a hybridization of those two renditions with a little bit of Grant Morrison's Joker added in. The only thing that was changed for the movie was that he wore make-up.

I think your idea would work in an else world's title or something like that, but in the movies they need to represent the characters. Heath's Joker was the first live action version of the Joker based on the modern age of comics. I would rather Riddler could have the privilage before they start "reinventing" him.

@boywonder93...Batman and Riddler would be in direct confrontation because Batman would have to realize that the man sending the riddles to the police department has to be someone that is interested in taking over the Penguin's businesses legitimate or not.

You know what?

Why don't I just write Batman 3! With me writing the movie, it'll save all the time and energy from fussing over the characters and such.

Plus, I have a good vision of the characters. With me writing the movie, it'll meet the expectations of the fans and the comic book lovers. I am more of a visual, big picture person. Very right brained, artistic if you will. Very good with detail.

I mean, I am writing my "Gotham After Dark" stories. They're very close to Nolan's movies, in a way.

But I know what you guys are thinking....Erin's plain crazy and she'll just end up ruining the movies.

@Erin - Hahaha lol.

@Raz - Yeah, it's basically my take on Riddler, although I think he is very much like a Nolanverse type...

@Raz:-

You'd have a hard time keeping my attention on the movie if Philip Seymour Hoffman was walking around on set wearing a tux....

or even if we had a good looking Riddler. XD LOL!!!

@Raz and Erin...That all depends on what type of Riddler Nolan wants; does he want his Riddler to be like Gorshin's version, Suit and Bowler Hat AND ? Costume or does Nolan want the version that was in THE BATMAN animated series, long black hair and in a ? Costume...that however depends upon what actor Nolan wants for Riddler IF Riddler is in #3 at all

All I can say is if Nolan doesn't put the Riddler in Batman 3....he's making a mistake....a very HUGE mistake...

And I think he should go with Gorshin's version. Gorshin's version & a mix of Riddler from the newer version of the comics....

the Riddler with the bowler hat & suite is very HOT....

I mean...*coughs*....very professional...that's what I meant, PROFESSIONAL!!

embarrassed

@buckeye bat- I see riddler going more along the lines of the Riddler in The Batman. The BTAS wasn't dark enough... Yes he was ready and willing to murder but he didn't have that edgy feel that you get from the Riddler in The Batman.

Nolan would deffinitely use the suit bowler-hat version from BTAS and Hush.

He deffinetly doesn't want to repeat the Joker with Riddler. Gorshin's Riddler is basically the Joker with a tight, green suit and a bunch of riddles The Batman's Goth/Punk Riddler would be far too close to the punk rock inspired Joker make-up from TDK.

And I highly doubt Nolan would ever consider using something The Batman in his Batman movies.

@raz- I just dont see the bowler hat version fitting in with such a dark and gritty interpertation of Batman and Gotham city

I will cry if Nolan doesn't use the suite & bowler hat version....

Nolan's Riddler should be dark yet classy yet edgy but yet mysterious. Riddler is intellectual. Nolan should focus on Riddler's intellect, how he looks at certain situations and such, handling them and what have you.

Each Riddler, from Gorshin's to the comics, each had a different style of doing things. Maybe if Nolan takes a small piece of each of those Riddlers, he can play with each of their characteristics and make a version that would fit perfectly.

Riddler should NOT be understimated in anyway.

And I can't believe I am even sticking up for him XD LOL!!

You're right, it would be ridiculous for Nolan to use a villain wearing a dress suit.

I think it's obvious from those images that Nolan HATES using villains in suits. He's much rather have a guy in Marilyn Manson make-up and spandex than a guy in a suit.

Now that we figured out what the Riddler should be wearing...comes the easy stuff who plays him and a believable back story..LOL.

Believe it or not, I was thinking Jon Cryer (Duckie from Pretty in Pink) or Thomas Gibson (Criminal Minds)...Cryer works because he can play that off the wall psycho kind of part...Gibson works because he can play the intellectual part.

Problem is they can't do anything like they did before (i.e. making Riddler an upstanding citizen/psycho as they did with Scarecrow or having him a criminal already as they did with Joker)

My List,

1: Johnny Depp

Pros: Can play weird characters and run with. Also can pull off suave characters. He's got a name big enough to come off as a true "successor" to Heath in the public eye.

Cons: He may be a bit too celebrity for Nolan. He's very busy and probably wouldn't be available for the film.

2: Daniel Day-Lewis

Pros: Intense method actor, can play weird and menacing characters. Looks suave enough to pull off the suit.

Cons: He's 52 years old, a bit too old for Riddler.

3: Jackie Earl-Haley

Pros: Looks EXACTLY like Riddler from The Long Halloween. He can be menacing, comedic, and psychotic all at once. Again, pulls off the suave, intelligent look quite well.

Cons: He's 5'5". He's going to play Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm's Street remake, which may not go over so well. He's also 48 years old, which still could be old for them.

I don't think Johhny Depp will be Nolan's choice... Although who knows?? Legder is somewhat of a big name and he was cast and did the best interpertation of Joker to date.

And Im not trying to sound stupid but whats something thats well known that Daniel Day Lewis acted in.... Im not very familiar with him

There will be Blood, Nine (the musical, not the animated movie), Gangs of New York, The Last of the Mohicians. He's not exactly a household name, but he is really good.

Another idea would be Charlie Sheen, we know he can do serious films (Platoon, Wall Street), he can play bad guys (Young Guns) and he can play funny (Major League, Hot Shots)...and to really mess with the public have him use his real name Carlos Estevez....I know you think it's a stretch but its all I got right now

yeah this might be a real stretch.... But the guy who plays Dr. Watson in the new Holmes film may be able to pull off the role of Riddler
