LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES
202 - THE MAN FROM THE EDGE OF TOMORROW PART 2
PLOT:
The Legion has returned from the 41st century with Kell-El, a genetically enhanced Superman clone. But Imperiex, the destroyer of galaxies, has reached the 31st century first -- and unleashed all of the Legion's greatest enemies. To restore order and combat this near-invincible foe, the Legion will once again turn to the past for help in the form of an older, more mature Superman with far greater grasp of his powers.
REVIEW:
Part 1 was a good start for this season; setting up the villains, Superman X, and the Legion all for this season. Altogether, I’m all ready for it. Superman X is an interesting character; kinda like a Wolverine version of Superman (he does have weapons from his fists), and I liked him. Impereix was also someone interesting, even though many hate him, I never read a comic with him in it so I was meeting this villain for the first time. Now with part 2, not only could I not wait for more Impereix against the Legion, I also couldn’t wait for Superman X (Kell-El) to meet the Original Superman (Kal-El). With all that said and done, here is part 2.
New Metropolis and the Legion’s HQ are in ruins. While the Legion are hurt, Brainiac tells them that something big must happen if the 41st Century is to be changed. Findign Phantom Girl, she tells them it wasn’t just Impereix who attacked them as the entire Legion in the city fight off every villain, recruited by Impereix, they have encountered. Superman X, Brainiac, and the rest of their part of the Legion fight alongside the other Legionaires against the villains. As the villains retreat and the Legion return back to their HQ, Bouncing Boy comes up with the idea to bring back the original Superman. Within seconds, the original Superman returns, now with some years in his age. Superman comes of friendly with Superman X, even though Superman X is aloof over it. With everyone set, the Legion goes off to recapture the villains.
I thought this would happen in the first part, but this was better to happen here, as the original Superman returns to the 31st Century and meets his 41st Century clone counterpart. The comparisons of how they act toward each other are very simple: Superman & Batman and Cyclops and Wolverine. Superman X is aloof and only is with the team only until he gets done with what he wants, and then will leave them be. Like I said in my review to part 1, he is like Wolverine. Even when he leaves the Legion to handle Impereix so he doesn’t have the team in his way, gives the feeling of Wolverine. So I guess this is like Superman meeting Wolverine.
In a fanboy moment, Superman mentions of a similar guy he knows that is kinda like Superman X who is a loner and wasn’t into joining a team. And we all know who that is: Batman.
We finally get to see the rest of the Legion in this episode, marking their first appearance this season. Shown here is that Lightning Lad really got hurt over Saturn Girl getting hurt, so this could be showing that the feelings Lightning Lad has for Saturn Girl in the comics must be happening here. And it was always hinted at that Phantom Girl had a crush on Superman in season 1, it is undeniable when he returns and she keeps on repeating “wow” on his age. In my part 1 review, I mentioned how the men looked how they matured and not the women. Well in part 2, it just seems not to be quite the case as even Phantom Girl has a different costume. So maybe similar but different was plan for both genders.
Overall, this was as exciting as part 1. And now that the original Superman returned, the second season can ultimately begin. The Legion don’t fight Impereix at all in this episode, despite him still appearing in the episode in a couple of scenes. That’s because he is the main threat for the entire season and the episodes to come. I can’t wait for more of Superman (Kal-El)/Superman X (Kell-El) and the upcoming fights with Legion/Impereix. I’m all set, so let’s get ready.
RATING: Yay
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

And I'm the surgeon.

This episode was a little bit better. Imperiex still seems to be a mediocre villain to me...no big deal, I've seen the Legion deal with worse. It was interesting to see other legion members...for example "Shrinking Violet". It would be nice to see her in action since I don't know what she does...I've never read the comic.
The plot here seems old too...nothing astonishing to really hold ones interest.
I rate this episode: 7/10

So it was a Batman reference? Cool! That was my first thought when he Superman described it to the other Superman. I didn't realize this show was actually pretty good. I have no idea who the characters are but I like the 41st century Superman. I'm going to keep watching this show.

I thought that Superman X was pretty Batman-like in the first episode, so I got a real kick out of the: You are just like someone I know back home remark. It does put a bit of a kink into the continuity of the show, but since it is a kids cartoon they really don't have to explain too much about things like that.
I barely remember Imperiex being in this episode, if he was. I guess they are going to use the old keep the major villain distant from the heroes until the main battle at the end of the season. Which, ironically enough is essentially how the Imperiex War story played out in the comics.
