Joss Whedon has announced on his official Blog that he will no longer be writing and directing the Wonder Woman movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.

This announcement comes on the heels of yesterday's news that Warner Bros. has picked up a script from script from newcomers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland.

His blog could be found here:

My response? COME ON! Okay, we NOW need a DTV. Well if this was because of that other script, then maybe that script included things for the better. Well, I hope.

This does not sound good at all. Look how long it took and how many people came and went on Superman Returns before it got made. I hope this is not the same way Wonder Woman gets treated.

I think thats why Joss is off. how much you wanna bet that WB kicked him to the curb. I mean, it takes what? 2 years? Is that how long he's been on the project? It shouldn't take 2 years to write a screen play.

I think the biggest mistake is to put non-comic people on comic movies. Joss had no idea who Wonder Woman really was. I know he's a "comic" guy, but he's more Marvel.

REally, the movie should be out this year, along with Flash, but again, nothing out of that one either.

From what little I have read, he isn't really much of a Marvel guy. I may be proved wrong pretty easily because I have only read parts of his run on Astonishing X-men, but it just didn't have that X-Men feel.

I can't really say that I am too surprised by this news. It seems like you have to go through a pile of directors to get to an actual movie, and the lack of real news was not really confidence building. I question if we will actually see a movie in the next 5 years.

There's still that script they bought that made the news. Also, on bluetights' forum, it said to expect an announcement in the future regarding WW. Maybe the new director. That said that message came from DC Comics.

Yeah, the lack of any strong news hasn't put me in high anticipation. Hopefully they can get the ball rolling before long because this seems a bit pathetic. DC/WB needs to get their act together and put out some good DC character films.

That's too bad that he's of the project. True, he isn't a comic book guy, but he is a very good writer/director who can actually write good female leads (just look at Catwoman to see what happens when female leads are poorly written & directed).

I can't say as I'm surprised, though. Although good, Joss has a habit of taking a long time to finish his stories.

I read it, and it sounds awesome!!!!! big grin I'm glad they changed it to a WWII theme. I think how they describe Wonder Woman's outfit is going to be perfect. It's just how I pictured it in my mind!!! I can't wait till it comes out!!

I don't like the WWII setting. I'm sorry, but thats like setting Begins in the 1939 era. WW needs to be today, to be recent. But, if it's a good movie, I'd still watch it.

I'm looking forward to the new script. Joss was great with Buffy and Angel but Buffy isn't Diana. I wouldn't be surprised if his script was fantastic but TPTB didn't approve of something he was unwilling to change and the next thing he knew he was given the boot. He seemed a bit cocky about the character and that was my biggest worry.

Diana is a lot like a D.C. version of Captain America. She was here, in "patriarch's world" to fight the evil Nazis. WWII gave her a reason to leave her island. The thing about comparing WW's movie to Begins is Diana is not a mere mortal, Bruce is, thus TPTB can still have her sequel (if they make one) take place in the present despite her appearing in the 1940s. She'd be like a modern day myth (they could hhave her leave after WWII then reappear in the present a la the t.v. sshow), just like Batman is an urban legend to some.

Lois: What the hell am I doing in a dress, and what the hell am I doing at your Prom?
Clark: [ Realizing. ] Oh, no.
Lois: Did you pin that on me?
Clark: I'll explain later, Lois.
Lois: A little close to the boob, don't you think?
