"Superhero Hype!" was sent the following proposed promo schedule for Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman Returns by an anonymous scooper. If it's true, oh boy!
-November 2005:
*Teaser poster relased to theaters
*Teaser trailer #1 airs with HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
-January 2006:
*Teaser trialer #2 airs with GLORY ROAD.
-February 2006:
*Televised trailer with SUPER BOWL(U.S.)
*Tie in with Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy
*Teaser Poster #2 and Cinema Cardboard cutout of Superman Returns official logo in cinemas across the World
-March 2006:
*4 Televised trailers air with NCAA basketball playoffs

Not sure I believe this. Both Bryan Singer and John Ottman have said that they don't want to tie any pop songs into the film because it will date it very quickly in years to come, regardless of how timeless the film itself is (just look at Batman 89 and all of those Prince songs in it). Nevertheless, some truly great songs have come out of superhero films including:
U2 -Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me (I'm not quite sure if this was originally a tie-in, but it's still cool)
Seal -Kiss by the rose
Chad Kroeger -Hero
I loved all of those songs.
