Zip Action Batman
The Batman Series 1: Mattel, 2004 SKU# G3432

The new Animated Series The Batman and the new comic book Batman Strikes will debut in 2004. This next incarnation showcases Batman in his third year. This is the main Batman figure from the first wave of figures Zip Action Batman follows where Zipline Batman went just a year before.

This figure is an all-new scale. It?s taller than both the Batman The Animated Series and Justice League Batman figures that Mattel released in 2003. It is shorter than Zipline Batman and the rest of the Mattel Comics Style figures. It?s articulated like the Justice League Mission Vision figures although the quality is a little better.

SPECS:
The figure stands 5 3/8 inches tall (to the ear tips) and has 9 points of articulation (head, shoulders, left elbow, hips, and knees) and a large cloth cape. The right arm is straight with a permanently attached Zipline and Batarang. The Zipline extends 7? and recoils up into the arm and body. The figure also comes with a ?disc launcher? weapon that clips on the left glove similar to ones seen with other Batman figures.

PROS:
Yet another The Four Horsemen design. Overall a good, mostly smooth sculpt with no ?ripped muscles?. The large feet and ankles give great support and the figure is easily posed.

CONS:
First it?s a whole different scale. I think it should have been one scale or the other. Even if you cut the line, the ?launcher? is molded to the right glove and is a bad idea on what should be a basic Batman figure. Paint has not been as good as it could be, two of my figures had paint rub off the Left Glove when I snapped the Disc Launcher on and off. Also paint decos have been very rough on a few figures I?ve seen on the pegs.

OVERALL:
This is a really good Batman figure. While it is clearly aimed at kids, collectors will like it too. The Four Horsemen sculpted this figure and it shows. The sculpting is somewhere between Animated/Justice League and Comic Style figures giving it a very solid feel.
So far the case pack ratios have been very good and the figure is easy enough to pick up at retail. Target has even offered Value Two Packs of figures and discounted the figures even more.
This figure is a must have for any Batman or action figure collector.

Yes, they did an all black Batman version. It was in TRU Exclusive 4 Pack The BATMAN EXP Multi Pack (J9958)
