Right you are. The Kurt Angle match was even worse than usual, for these reasons:
-Angle is like half Flair's age
-Angle is twice Flair's size
-Angle has an Olympic gold medal for doing REAL wrestling, for God's sake.
These two guys should never have been matched up, period. MAtch Angle up with somebody like Hogan, another stiff old man. I'm not dissin these guys, I love 'em, but that would just make for a more even and believable type of match.
Anyway, I've been making an effort to watch Raw and TNA lately. I don't get UPN though, so I can't watch Smackdown. And am I the only one who thinks Cena's belt with the spinning WWE logo is infuriatingly stupid?!? :bigrazz:

lol no DF youre not the only one who thinks its stupid :p but he ought to be losing the title soon enough and then whoever has it next will likely go back to a regualr belt so that'll be the end of that.
i have to agree TNA is definitely picking up steam lately, espeically with them bringing in sting as one of their headliners at least for the time being. i think the best way for these guys t excel is to first bring in more big names and then while drawing such crowds, they can really impress the ppl with their x division matches. hopefully itll get to the point where ppl who mightve originally started watching cuz of the more famous guys, will actually stick around as fans for the newer less established guys. this way they can slowly but surely build their own stars and we wont have to sit thru a bunch of guys who really cant make it anymore lol.
i really hope they become a bigger deal this year, cuz then at least vince will wake up and not produce such nonsense as weve been stuck with for the past couple of years.
oh by the way, i finally got a chance to see the jake dvd, well sorta. they were ariing it on ppv thruout december and i managed to catch one of the last few showings. basically what they do is just show u the feature portion, the documentary without all the extras and whatever else, hen just charge ya ten bucks. since ive been buying a bunch of dvds lately, i was a bit short on funds so this solved my problem as ive been wanting to check it out for a while. i was not at all disappointed. while hes certainly got quite a sad story, theres no denying he was a legend in the business, hopefully later this year they'll induct him into the hall of fame or something.
and finally im happy to report that i got the first three volumes of the wrestlemania anthology, which is the first 15 manias. heres hoping they put out anthologies for other classic events sometime soon!

Yeah, it really looks like they're building Cena high to set him up for a fall soon. I won't be surprised if he loses the title this Sunday. As long as that dumbass Carlito doesn't become champion. (as if  )
Argh, I hate you, BDG! I have to wait for another payday before I can consider gettin the Wrestlemania 1-5 DVDs. I thought somebody might pick it up for me for Christmas, but nobody did.
I've actually been coming around on the Undertaker lately. After watching the Jake the Snake DVD, there were some of the storyline segments on the bonus disk that I had completely forgotten about. Reminded that I used to like him before that infamous Wrestlemania 9 match that made me hate him. (Like any man is gonna sit right up after being served with 2 DDTs!!!) I'm thinking about buying his 3 disc DVD set. The worst thing that'll happen is I won't like it, and then I'll just give it to my sister. She loves the Undertaker, even if she still swears up and down that the Ultimate Warrior could take him. :P

At the risk of sounding sleazy, I must say that most of the guys on this forum would have to agree. So, no need to feel ashamed.
I kinda like Masters myself. He's actually impressed me, which not many current wrestlers have been able to do. I wouldn't have a problem with him becoming the champ for a little while. Of course, the added benefit would be not having to hear Cena's crappy pseudo-rap crap so often. It must sound like I hate Cena. I don't, but there are a few of his little gimmicks and such that irritate me. It also bugs me that he wears regular clothing when he wrestles. You're supposed to look like a spandex-wearing freak in a cape when you wrestle, dammit!

And no offense to overweight people, but I can't stand guys like Buddy Ray Dudley who are scared to wrestle without a T-shirt because they have man-boobs. It's like the chubby kid at the swimming pool. Does Samoa Joe wear a shirt over his jugs? And Bubba seems like one of those guys who when you'd pretend-fight as kids, they would never ever want to lose. D-Von on the other hand, is a little better and has a much better physique. I think he still wears a beater just so Bubba doesn't feel alone.
WWE has been so-so. Anyone see that goofy damn Live Sex Celebration? I couldn't believe that crap. It was fun seeing Flair get close to winning his first-ever Ladder Match, and almost die in the process. As usual, all he did was chops and punches. I'm sorry, you can't win a world title that way, Ric. They seem to put him in a lot of No DQ matches to give him an advantage with weapons.
There was a Royal Rumble qualifying match, Kane Vs. Snitsky. These two had a heated rivalry a while back, including at least four gimmick matches. This RR match included no more than, literally, six moves, ending in Kane's favor. What the hell happened??
It's really cool that Sting is back, I just miss his long hair for the Crow look. I was half-tempted to get Final Resolution. Last week was so funny; while Jesse James was hollering during an interview, his partner Billy Gunn was silently mouthing all the words!

I haven't watched it in a couple of weeks, I'm waiting for my sister to bring the the tape of New Year's Revolution. I did watch enough of the recap the day after, to see who wound up as champ. Can't say I'm surprised that it's somebody lame. Probably won't last long, though. I can't believe Kane got taken out so quickly, though. From the recap, it looked like he was just in and out in a matter of minutes. Looked like Shawn Michaels's geriatric ass didn't hang so tough, either. They need to start a WWE "Retirement Home League" or something for those guys. I know I keep bringing that up, but it's the truth.

He just gets on my nerves. In interviews and stuff he seems okay, but I don't like his wrestling persona. Plus, he's always hanging out with that skank.

I realized something about Edge's new, crude persona. Before Adam Copeland (Edge) was in WWE, he wrestled with a sexual/porn persona like Val Venis, by the name Sexton Hardcastle. Then he and Venis came into WWE at the same time (late '90s) and Val was given that type of persona, and Adam was given the name "Edge". He hated it at first, because he didn't get what "Edge" was supposed to mean, and he wanted the porn star gimmick. Eventually he realized that the broad name "Edge" was better, because with the porn gimmick, what's left to do after you've slept with everyone in the business? I think he's starting to fall into that gimmick now though, with his nickname "Rated R Superstar" and all the sexual crap with Lita. So I think he's found a chance to use the sexual persona without being a full-on porn character. Kinda funny.

Just came from watching TNA iMPACT. Sting made an announcement. He made it out that Final Resolution really was his last match, and that since he never got to say goodbye after his final match on March 2001 (the final airing of WCW Monday Nitro), he wanted to take the opportunity on TNA.
Of course, anyone with half a brain would have to ponder whether this really is "Goodbye" or not. But who knows, some people really do like to leave on the top of their game, with the fans wanting more. You could tell through the white face paint that his eyes were getting a bit red, and the fans kept chanting "You still got it." And as he made his way back up the rampway, after laying his black bat in the ring, they went "Please don't go." I wish I got Final Resolution, and I would like to see him in the ring again. But at the same time, after such a heartfelt goodbye, maybe it's best he does the unusual in wrestling and keeps his word.

I Tivoed TNA tonight, but haven't watched it yet. I hope Sting does stay retired, and go out on a high note. The fewer wrestlers we have coming outta retirement and embarassing themselves, the better!

The other night I was watching Futurama during the Adult Swim block. It had Bender in this "What if" reality where he was gigantic, and he peeked into a skyscraper window and said "I'm a big robot! And I need a big cereal!" I didn't catch the joke at first, but then it hit me. Anyone ever see Andre the Giant's appearance in a Honey Comb Cereal commercial? He was a giant peeking through some kids' treehouse window. I had to have been 5 at the oldest when I saw that! God, that brought me back... :rol:

Yeah, I remember that episode. Took me a second to remember where I'd heard that before, too, first saw I saw it.

well in some great news which was revealed earlier this week, the one and only bret hart will be inducted into the WWE hall of fame the night before wrestlemania this year. its great to have the hitman take his rightful place among other legends.
heres a quick video clip of the announcement form wwe's site:
http://www.wwe.com/content/media/video/superstars/bret_hart/bretharthof?section=%2Fsuperstars%2Fhalloffame%2F

EDIT: while hes probably going to be the biggest name being inducted this year a number of other names will be honored as well, who are some old favorites you guys want to see get inducted along with the excellence of execution??

They've actually already covered most of the people I wanted inducted. Is Dibiase a hall of famer yet, though? If not, that is a grievous oversight.
I finally caved and picked up the Undertaker 3 disc set last week. Watched the first disc, but none of the extras yet. Man, who the hell is Big Daddy Cool?!?!!!? I don't remember him at all. He wouldn't be the inspiration for you screen name, would he, BDG?
BTW, I loathe Mankind with the burning intensity of a billion blazing suns. I LOVED seeing that fool get his ass stomped into tomato paste by 'Taker. It's weird, I used to hate the undertaker, but I've come to like him. (Mainly after seeing some of his old run with Jake the Snake, which I had completely forgotten about.) I do think his whole schtick is overdone at times, though. But whose isn't in the WWF/E?

Finally, I can log into the forum again!
It is interesting that Bret accepted his place in the Hall of Fame. I've read in the past that he wouldn't take the offer and didn't care to be associated with the company anymore. I'm sure it is a hard decision for him, and I understand the mixed feelings. Now there's kids on the Wrestling Figs forum talking about him taking part at Wrestlmania in the Michaels-McMahon feud. Keep dreamin', boys. It'd be especially difficult for him after that stroke, and he's even limited to light-weight exercising. Most importantly, he just doesn't want to be involved in stories, especially those rooted to that damn Montreal Screwjob.
On another Hart-related note, I got the Hart Foundation 3-pack from Wal Mart marked down to $15! I'm thinking of getting the Rockers 2-pack and scale-accurate WWE ring to give them something to kick the crap out of.

I agree, Undertaker's gimmick could be too much for me at times, but he's pretty good in that ring. I also agree that seeing Mankind being decimated by 'Taker is entertaining, especially when a Cell is involved, and a ringside table. :rol:
