In Year One, Bruce takes a Porsche 928 on hit first night as a vigilante, and though he manages to make it home after having been shot, he smashed the car up pretty bad. During the first story arc of Legends of the Dark Knight, the 928 returns, though modified to act as a Batmobile with some fancy electronic equipment inside. My thought is that Bruce had the car "scrapped," but in reality just rebuilt it to use as a proto-Batmobile. This is my build of the repaired 928, with the added electronics as seen in the second photo:

The licensse plate is my best guess as to what it reads in LotDK #5, page 9 - there's definitely a plate there, but it's kind of distorted because of the headlights. |

That's quite a nice model, Spencer. I always admire when someone researches and it culminates into a cool project of some sort. I did a quick skim through LOTDK #5 and I can't help but wonder if it's supposed to be blue or black. Comic book highlighting can be hard to figure, but your model is great either way.

I notice a lot of Batmobile toys are available in either blue or black, so I guess it's a dilemma that a lot people face

Thanks! Yeah, the blue/black dilemma is always there, and it's even worse when there's such a strong overall style and no markings (such as a black bat mask on the hood) like this car. I decided to go with black in part because of Year One. It was drawn as brown-black there, so I figured split the difference between Y1 and LotDK and call it straight black. I just wish I could've gotten a better photo of the overhead monitor on the windshield - I'm really happy with how it turned out, but it's almost impossible to take pictures through the glass. |
