Good week ahead with a couple of the Bat Family titles ending.

Action Comics #836

Witness the Golden Age Superman and Lois falling in love in the second part of the retelling of the story of the original superhero.

Batgirl #73

This is the final issue for this series. According to the description we are going to see the end of Batgirl.

Gotham Knights #74

Another final issue. Sometimes it seems like I don't drop comics, they drop me. The conclusion (hopefully) of the story of Hush and Joker. Nice how the solicitation teases that Batman may kill in the story. Too bad because the title was really good at the start, but this story has gone on too long.

Batman: War Crimes

The collection of some of the fallout from the War Games storyline. Not a particularly good story, but it did have a decent confrontation between Batman and a character that has been around for a long time. It is just too bad the the story just totally went against this character normal writing.

Batman: Year One Hundred #1

Gotham in the year 2039. Might be pretty fun, but I am going to at most wait on the trade for this because the art just isn't that appealing to me.

Birds of Prey #91

I don't know if the listed story will be what is in the comic hitting shelves. A stand alone story seems like an odd thing to do the month before the one year later jump. I could be wrong though. It really seems like Birds of Prey is the one title that isn't going to change that much.

Firestorm #22

Pretty freaky looking cover there. From what I have seen they are trying to integrate a little more of the old Firestorm into this one. Funny thing is that this whole series seems to have been the writers trying to build a better Firestorm. Hopefully this one will stick around for a while.

JSA Classified #9

That is an awesome cover. Wildcat hit Flash so hard that his hat is flying off looking like a lethal weapon.

Justice #4

The villains have promised to use their powers to better the Earth, but under the table they are striking out against their mortal enemies. This has been a great storyline so far, but it is such a pain that there is a two month gap between issues. Just long enough to completely forget the previous issue.

Manhunter #9

So who is the sparky fisted guy on the cover. She is fighting her father in the issue, but I have no idea as to who her father is. Anyone read this title?

Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy #2

Gritty war stories and cute puppies. The plot description sounds pretty cool for this. I have never read any Sgt. Rock stories, but this might be worth checking out.

Those are the ones I'm getting. I ordered Year 100 based solely on Paul Pope's name. I haven't read much by him, but what I have read has been damn good. He did one of my favorite Elseworlds stories, "The Bat-Man of Krakow," in the all-EW issue of Batman Chronicles a few years back. His art definitely isn't for everybody, but it's very dynamic and energetic, and appropriate for the stories he tells. I'm looking forward to the book.
Sgt. Rock has always been awesome, especially in the hands of Kubert. The first issue was great; I only wish Kubert could do a Rock ongoing.

I'm not getting the War Crimes trade, since I have those issues. It was a good story, right up until the conclusion. Even that was well-written, but I didn't like how years of character development was simply ignored for the sake of a "shocking" ending. The story is an Elseworlds, as far as I'm concerned.
