One trade dominates the new releases this week guys - and it towers over everything else.....

The comic book that seemed to spawn the phrase "graphic novel" (which was the same book that was also named after possibly the best band ever) is 20 years old. I've said on these boards before that I think Alan Moore is a antagonistic drama queen - but his barmy mind has regularly provided true brilliance. I can't remember now, but I've got a feeling that this might even be the first Batman book I ever bought.

Written by Alan Moore & Brian Bolland; Art and cover by Brian Bolland

The classic Batman tale by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland returns in an all-new special edition! This edition - celebrating the 20th anniversary of the landmark work - features all-new coloring by Bolland, and includes the story "An Innocent Guy," previously featured in BATMAN: BLACK AND WHITE!

1st post updated with this weeks comics folks!

Countdown Number 1 is out!

Of this weeks trades there are 3, and they're all worth a mention.

Batman Chronicles number 5 should be on everyone's list. These take us back to the early days of the Dark Knight; as he was originally portrayed. Given that the hardcover DC archives are really expensive these make lovely alternatives. The covers of these never inspire excitement, but what's within them is something we should all cherish.

I've been going on and on about Jonah Hex for months now. The 4h trade collection is just as good as the others - we're upto about number 30 in this title now and I think the standard has been consistently excellent.

Although I've got them all, I've fallen behind on the current JSA stuff - it's well worth checking out.

THE BATMAN CHRONICLES VOL. 5

Written by Bill Finger, Joseph Greene and Jack Schiff; Art by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson; Cover by Kane

The series collecting every Batman adventure ever published in chronological order continues with this fifth volume, collecting Batman #8-9, Detective Comics #57-61, and stories from World's Finest Comics #4 (1941-1942)!

JONAH HEX VOL. 4: ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG

Written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray; Art by Phil Noto, Jordi Bernet and David Michael Beck; Cover by Noto

This volume — collecting issues #19-24 of the bloody, hard-hitting series — features the lushly illustrated adventures of Hex as he dodges bullets, rights wrongs and courts death in the Old West.

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA VOL. 2: THY KINGDOM COME PART 1

Written by Geoff Johns and Alex Ross; Art by Dale Eaglesham, Ruy Jose, Fernando Pasarin and Rodney Ramos; Cover by Ross

A stunning new volume collecting JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #7-12, featuring the prelude to and the first three parts of "Thy Kingdom Come," the sequel to the classic KINGDOM COME! Welcome the newest member to the Justice Society of America: the Kingdom Come Superman! Coming from an Earth plagued by heroes-gone-extreme, how will this Superman react to an incarnation of the Justice Society he never knew?
