PLOT:
Slade Wilson has probably been in a million of these stand-offs. With Alfred Pennyworth's throat pressing into his blade he knows that both he and the Outsiders want the meteor fragment from within the supposedly immortal Insider named
Mallory that lies dead at their feet. But this time Wilson has some surprises up his sleeve. A former member of the Society, Slade Wilson is no stranger to working in teams to
achieve a common goal, but an extraction mission such as this
would usually be a solo operation. However following his latest escape from Belle Reve, Wilson's life has changed somewhat. Taking in a meta-street kid he calls 'Pop', Slade now has backup. And more importantly is able to create just the diversion he needs to
make his escape.
Summoning a hail of explosions from Pop, Wilson realizes that he doesn't need all of the Insider's corpse - just the portion containing the rock segment he was sent to retrieve. So, slicing Mallory's corpse in half, he makes off with partial corpse as
Pop's explosions rain down from above. The Outsiders scatter trying to minimize damage. But instead of protecting the innocent
civilians nearby, Geo-Force focuses his energies on retrieving the piece of the meteorite from within the corpse Slade is escaping with. Though he succeeds in
acquiring the rock his brash actions seem to ruffle the
feathers of his teammate Black Lightning. Left standing amongst the rubble in Opal City, the Outsiders may have lost track of Deathstroke but it seems as though the deceased Mallory had used the last of his strength to inscribe a series of numbers on the pavement with his blood. Could these numbers be coordinates leading the team
to the whereabouts of the mysterious Insiders?
For several lifetimes now those Insiders have been retrieving similar samples from deep beneath Earth's surface. Trying desperately to stave off death, each new meteorite rescued from the depths has
brought them closer to their goal of true eternal life. And while the carnage unfolds in Opal City, a Ravager is returning to base with two new fragments. Each new fragment they accumulate over the years has been placed in a giant
machine they call the 'Attractor.' Now, with these final two segments, the Insiders have amassed enough of the original meteorite to finally power up the
Attractor. Capitalizing on the same self-attracting principle that allowed the
Outsiders to track down the meteorite planted within Mallory on the surface, the machine, planted deep below begins whirring to life, locating the remaining particles
buried throughout the globe.
The endgame in sight, the Insiders recall all remaining Thrashers and set them about on a new mission. Having tracked the location of the Outsiders' Haven just
above the stratosphere the Insiders
dispatch their acolytes up to space to eliminate the meddlesome heroes. Fatefully unaware that perhaps the most dangerous Outsider of all, the Creeper, lie in wait for them up in the heavens, the Acolytes launch skyward
in a giant rocket headed towards the Haven.
But as the rocket blasts off skyward it unfortunately also reveals the hidden location of the Insiders base to Vandal Savage. The mark of Cain emblazoned upon his forehead, the originator of Sin himself has crossed the entire globe, drawn
towards the Insiders and their quest for the meteorite which gave him his status of immortality. As he stalks towards the Insiders base the warrior is suddenly surrounded by a league of ninjas. It would seem that another immortal is interested
in the Insiders' operation - Ra's Al Ghul!
